The Kempinski, prepare to be welcomed

Reviewed By Lukenetdc

The hotel is quite nice, the room amenities showed a high evel of proactive attention to guests. Robes, slippers, complimentary shoe shines just to name a few. I like to pay attention to name tags to be sure and recognize great employees. I was assisted at the entrance door by a porter I”d not seen before ,Edward. He smiled and welcomed me to the hotel as he assisted with my bags. His sincere smile and welcome was appreciated after my long journey. After a seamless check in , I relaxed and had to contact housekeeping, a kind gentleman Eric was quick to help and even asked if there was anything else I needed. His gracious smile reminded me why I continue to return to the Kempinski. He encouraged me to contact housekeeping for anything that I needed. His thoughtfulness was appreciated. Lastly, my room service was complete with the Simon. He represented the service one would expect from The Kempinski. He was courteous, helpful, and even proactive in asking me if there were any other items I’d like with my meal. Simon asked if I needed anything else and encouraged me to contact room service for anything. I know some of these actions may seem like par at high end hotels, but sadly not always. Thanks to Edward, Eric and Simon for representing The Kempinski so well.

It’s ok

Had a 2-night stay here. The rooms are decent. I found that no matter how I positioned the shower head, water would inevitably come out from under the shower door. Room was on the 2nd floor, so had to lug our suitcases up the stairs. The swimming pools looked great. I wasn’t keen to get in the ocean off their private beach as there was so much trash strewn about.

Home away from home in Accra

Lovely small hotel with a beautiful garden, comfortable rooms, and a terrific staff. I've stayed many times over the past few years and all of my experiences have been good. The reception staff is particularly good, and Topaz recently resolved a booking snafu (I had booked for the wrong dates accidentally) with great efficiency. The location is also great - really convenient to be able to walk out the door and fine restaurants, pharmacies, etc within a few hundred meters.

I stayed at the African Regent Hotel for 8 days, the service was excellent! The room was clean and comfortable, and the staff was friendly and accommodating. I did have problems with the electrical outlets in the room working consistently, but that was the bulk of any issues. The Food was good, they offered a variety of options, the bar was good, they didn’t have my top shelf liquors, but they still had options.

Embassy Gardens great location but poor customer service

Reviewed By 744wina

I stayed here for my first week from the 25th March 2022. I was very happy with the service and the area. Somethings from my room were not complete, for example having my own sofa which was of inconvenience when my guests arrived but my host made sure I was comfortable and promised to look after me the next time. I was happy to come back after my trip from Kumasi. However everything went down hill. Room was disorganised, broken curtains, bed made was incomplete, low/no wifi. Ceiling mould and damp. Made a compliant in which the maintenance team attended and informed me they were trying to gain access in the afternoon but no one was in. Bear in mind I had not received any phone calls or messages about this. Furthermore, I explained the room is no fit condition to be receiving guests and should be fixed first, this was not a matter of completing it in the afternoon that I checked in! Rubbish! One of the workers agreed and also made it known to the maintenance team she had been complaining about this room for a while. They moved me to a temp room for the night. With weak/very limited wifi, some stained walls, broken shower, sticky toilet bin lid and the toilet making loud and long flushing noises. I moved in total four times. They also gave me a room with stained bed sheets and scaffolding in which workers would be walking across my balcony. With the help of my old host and a nice lady, I got a lovely apartment. The host, required payment but did not want to do an online bank transfer, did not have a card machine. So I paid via World Remit money in which money was taken out of my account but her transactions was not cleared. She wanted me to pay again, in which I told her I will not be paying twice, she will have to wait until the refund is cleared. I had to request for a refund (took 3 working days), was also being chased for full payment for the moulded room. House keeping forgot to lock my room. At this point I was fed up. I asked for some negotiation in having a late check out as my flight departed late at night and with everything I had dealt with before, this was by passed and not even considered. I was then charged the highest exchange rate which meant i was paying more (they say different agents use different exchange rates). This meant I was given the host/agent nearly £94 extra which is around about/over 800 GHC. For all the lack of customer service, sympathy and them always chasing me for payments like I was a criminal. I will not be coming back again! I honestly wish I left my experience at week one, rather than returning back to end my stay in Ghana. If you want a modern place , great location/pool side views, lots of tourists etc, stay there. I expected way more for up-keeping and maintenance. Highly disappointed with round two stay at Embassy Gardens.

A pearl of a hostel

Reviewed By Stellarsly

I decided to book a hostel in Accra during a recent work trip so I could meet like-minded people and be in a more vibrant neighbourhood. And boy am I happy I did! My first room on the ground floor was quite dark and noisy, especially in the early morning. My second room, the deluxe room, was spacious, had everything I needed included a kettle and fridge, and a view of the garden and pool. The breakfast was copious and tasty, and I was able to order food for delivery for my other meals. I was delighted with my stay. I would heartily recommend, but with the caveat that it's very noisy in the mornings so either go to bed early or bring earplugs!

Amazing service from the entire FD staff

I jumped in a taxi from the bus terminal and forgot my mobile phone in the taxi. The 1st person I encountered was Lawrence the shuttle bus driver who noticed that I was frantically looking for something and asked me if he could help. When I explained what happened he, without question told me to hop in the bus and he would try to find the taxi driver. He then decided to take me too the hotel lobby where WiFi would be available to try and call my phone. That’s when Chris Chris, Fairouz and Samuel jumped into action to locate the phone and helped me to call an uber to find the taxi driver. You guys were all amazing. Thank you ever ever so much for all your efforts.. Lawrence you are a Gem… thank you all.

Best part is the pool and welcoming helpful staff. Irene at the pool bar is the best. Friendly and helpful with always a smile. A lovely ray of sunshine after working all day.
