The perfect venue for my daughters wedding day.

Reviewed By davemH8556EL

As the father of the bride, I wanted my daughter to experience a special wedding day. A day to remember. Everything the Plas Hafod Hotel offered fulfilled this objective, making it the perfect wedding venue. We stayed for 2 nights and enjoyed an excellent family meal on the first evening. The quality and presentation of this meal set a standard that was delivered throughout. The staff were so friendly and helpful throughout our stay. The management of the wedding day itself exceeded my expectations and I would like to give a special mention to Pete for his dedication and professionalism in ensuring the day was a seamless joy from start to finish. The Plas Hafod is located in beautiful well-maintained gardens. Ideal for wedding photography. The main function room, where the wedding breakfast and later the evening celebrations occurred is just magical. I can't leave without also mentioning the delicious Welsh Breakfast we enjoyed. Look no further if you have a similar function to arrange. We intend to return again whenever possible. I know we will not be disappointed.

The hotel could do with an update, but it was lovely and clean. The hotel staff were great; very friendly & helpful. Luckily I’d read the driving directions on the Travelodge website so I knew you can only gain access from one side of the road. It was only a five minute detour having to go to the next junction and turn around.

Tired and run down NOT Holiday Inn standards

Very tired peeling paint, near to floor staining on walls and tiles had timescale and water stains and dirty grout, in bathroom. 2 Light bulbs failed in main room. Lift door struggles to open and close. Toaster took 6 times round to make light toast only 1 element works also. Eggs looked like cooked long time. Mushrooms soaking in butter / oil. Eve meal very limited choice and not menu that web site shows. Was told we should update that really. I actually thought I had been given room service menu. I have used holiday inn wood wide and was elite level on ihg rewards some years ago. This place needs a total revamp. Other guests commented to me too at breakfast to say they wouldn't use holiday in again as it was his first time at one. Staff all polite and professional except the waiter at breakfast and some lady that appeared to be the cook wandering about she was sullen and abrupt he was overly familiar with people and comments a large corporate employer would deem acceptable. The meal shown was £18. Not worth the money at all steak was cheap quality despite being told sirloin. Would expect better from a travel lodge even

Horrendous experience

Reviewed By tba997

I would give this a 0 rating if I could. Here are some of the reasons why: 1. There was a poo in the toilet when we arrived. 2. There was feaces smeared on the wall. 3. The main light wasn’t working. 4. The room hadn’t been cleaned at all. 5. I had to vacuum clean the carpet on arrival. 6. There was no soap in the soap dispenser, so we were given a cup of liquid soap. 7. There was stagnant water in the shower gel dispenser. 8. The woman on reception said she’d ask the cleaners to clean our room the next day (because we arrived late and needed to get our 2 children to bed), but there was no sign that they’d been in the room the next day. 8. When I asked the receptionist how I’d make a formal complaint, she said she wasn’t sure of the procedure and told me to look at the website. 9. There was mould between the tiles in the bathroom. 10. The room was smelly.

Very welcoming staff, nothing too much trouble. Basic, clean and spacious room with tea/coffee and hairdryer available. Food: Breakfast was lovely, very well presented (full breakfast available, cerals and toast/jams) Evening meal: huge portions, great value and very tasty! I had the chicken burger and when I asked what the cheesecake was, chocolate battenberg....love that they made something different, so I went for it! As a person who dines out regularly with travel, and has a sweet tooth ? I would say this is the best cheesecake I've ever had! The explosion of different flavours was amazing!! Also 'diolch' to the young waitress you spotted I spoke Welsh!!

Relaxing and chilled

Reviewed By tinkjq

My husband and I have just got back from our little break away. We were a bit apprehensive at first , especially after reading the bad reviews. But we had nothing to worry about. It was super clean ad very spacious. The hot tub was up and running ready for us to use straight away. There is also a gas BBQ to use and a little shop on site in case you forget the essentials. We stayed at Wagtail Lodge, we will definitely book this again.
