What a find

Reviewed By Moose-JHB

We were looking for a place to stay to break up the journey from JHB to Plett. This came up on a reservation site so we booked and took a chance. What a lovely experience, we were greeted by the owner and shown to our room - newly renovated with modern amenities and a VERY comfy bed. An honesty bar for cold craft beer, wine etc. and a central area to either eat or get plates, cutlery and so on so you can eat in your room. Our room came with a Pod coffee machine, small fridge, rusks and some sweeties that you can purchase if you’d like to, oh and a lovely modern shower. We were up early and left at 5:30am to complete our journey and had a magical sunrise. Exceeded all our expectations and we will be back.

Sanctuary Guest & Adventure Farm

Sanctuary Farm situated on the beautiful banks of the Great Fish River operates as a guest farm with a luxury camping site and lots of adventure activities. This valley is not called the Jewel of the Karoo for nothing. With its green pastures, all year flowing river, maize, pecan orchards, game, sheep, dairy and lovely community it is one of a kind.

A quiet oasis.....

Reviewed By 890jamesb98

We booked one of the luxury tents for one night. Could have extended to several nights....it was just bliss. The Cloete family created some magic here. Friendly warm reception, providing us with whatever we needed. We strolled around the magnificent lawns and adored the flowers, the trees. We drank in the silence. The braaifire was intimate in the quiteness of the late afternoon. The bed comfy, the fan purring softly because it was a hot mid-February eve. Allround, just a place we HAVE to return too.....

Annie's Guest House

Well appointed, well run guest house.

Reviewed By Jocelyn S

This is a little gem in the heart of Cradock. Annie is a very gracious hostess who thinks of the little things to make you feel at home, such as rusks and fresh milk for your tea and coffee, fresh flowers, hot water bottles as well as heated blankets on the bed (Cradock can be very cold). The decor through out is very tasteful. Excellent breakfasts are included and Annie will provide a light supper on request. As it was a Sunday night when we visited we asked for supper and had a very tasty chicken and pasta dish with malva pudding to follow, and optional wine. Guests can have the use of the swimming pool and lapa area around the pool. It was too cold to swim when I was there but it was a lovely suntrap area in which to relax. This guest house is very good value and highly recommended.

They did not open the door for us!

Reviewed By Sina297

I don't like writing bad reviews because most of the time they are too personal. But in this case I want to share my experience and hope that this will not happen again to anyone: We arrived in the dark but within the regular check-in times. Everything was dark. We rang the bell at the gate for about 30 minutes and even tried to reach Albert House by phone. No reaction. We had already paid the price for the overnight stay + breakfast, so we waited. However, as it got later we decided to look for an alternative to stay for the night and luckily found something where they were willing to open the door. We found out later that there was a power blackout and assumed that neither doorbell nor telephone were working. But honestly, if I am awaiting guests, I have to make sure they can reach me somehow - put a note on the gate or anything. And to make it even worse, I wrote two e-mails (one on the same evening and one just after we came back to Germany) - NO REACTION AT ALL, no apologies or anything. This is really diappointing.

Linduli Farmstay

Reviewed By yolandeb892

Our Linduli farmstay exceeded all of our expectations and right from the bakkie ride upon arrival, to the famous red couch photo that signaled the end of our stay, we were spoiled with the best of what the Karoo had to offer. The welcome platter felt like it was custom-made for us, with all of our favourite snacks on offer. That was just a sample of the hearty meals that awaited us. Our chalet was very luxurious and comfortable, with a view that kept taking my breath away! I have a historical link to the surrounding land and Koot was so accommodating, showing us around and helping me envisage what my grandparents' lives were like here. We felt so at home at Linduli... we will most certainly be back. Thanks again!

We stayed on Denmark farm one night. A good overnight stay if you want to visit the mountain Zebra park. The place was well equipped with a kitchen and a bedroom and bathroom and an outside veranda. The place had wifi. A lovely garden to explore and also walks you could do if there is time to spend more than one night. It was a peaceful place and sleeping was good.

Spotlessly clean

Reviewed By HannekeLeonie

The room was spotlessly clean! It was cold while we were there, so it was nice to have a heater (which worked well). There is a double bed and single bed; the double bed is a bit narrow for 2 people. It was a bit weird that there was a lot of kitchenware, but not a stove. For us that was not a problem, because we went out for dinner anyway. There are no restaurants at walking distance, you have to go by car.

Lovely!

Reviewed By angluckman

A beautifully decorated gem in Cradock! Very clean and neat and offered everything you think you might need. There is a great private braai area and although we didn’t utilize it it made for a nice breakfast area where we could listen to the abundance of birds in the background! And you’ll have to go far to find better hosts! We felt like we visited long lost family who we’re still trying to get to give us their lasagna recipe, not to mention the fudge! Oh the fudge!! :) Thank you Annemarie, jy mag maar!
