10 hotels in Cheltenham: Best hotel deals for 2023

August 6, 2022 Kiesha Cripe

Cheltenham was just your average, sleepy town until the discovery of a spring in 1716, after which it became Britain's most popular spa town. (Like Palm Springs without the casinos.) Local Cheltonians have a reputation for being wealthy and respectable, and a walk along the Promenade will give you a first-class view of their wonderful houses, shops and gardens. After taking in the waters at the Pittville Pump Room (great name for a spa), check out the Art Gallery and Museum to learn about the social history of Cheltenham.

Lovely

Reviewed By JeySC

The apartments are excellent. First time visit, so picked the Tivoli Studio. This was just perfect for the two of us a two nights. The studio offered everything you would need. All amenities are catered for and it is very well decorated. Lovely little touch with a breakfast basked on arrival. There was plenty of coffee pods, the internet is very quick and the TV is good. The bed looks new and very comfortable and the bathroom is full of mirrors with large double shower. Shower gel, shampoo, conditioner and shower cap all provided and also replaced daily. The location is opposite the NCP car park and on a main road but the traffic noise is minimal. The free parking at the back is great, plenty of space. The aprtment itself is in an excellent location for the town centre and brewery quarter. The owners/host met us on arrival, we were early but they managed to have the studio available early for us so we could start the short break straight away. Excellent place, highly recommended and if the other apartments are as good as the studio, then you wont be disappointed

Great location, great hotel.

We arrived really early so popped in to see if we could leave the car which a lovely lady took our details and we would call back later. We got a space fine and the carpark was free but later on it was full. We walked into Cheltenham which took about 10 mins to the shops then a further 5-10 along the promenade to montpellier where alot of pubs and eateries. We arrived back about 2ish and the room was ready which was great. The room was small double (advertised as this) but lovely and quiant with a small sash window. Lovely modern bathroom with accessories. Tea, coffee facilities supplied with bottled water and free wifi. We were lucky to get a room as fully booked and only booked that morning but think next time would book a bigger room. Hotel had a lovely bar area and lovely area for breakfast of which you preorder the day before which was a good idea. Breakfast in the morning was amazing with homemade granola, yoghurt with fruit compote, apple juice, coffee and full breakfast with choice of black pudding and beans all preordered , all the toast you want as do this yourselves. Staff were all friendly, hotel great location set in a quiet area but close enough to walk. Definitely would return.

Beaumont House

Beaumont House is 14 bedroom guesthouse with off-street parking. It was the home of the Read family in the 1880's. On the 27th October 1884 Anketell Moutray Read was born in Beaumont House, the youngest son of Colonel John Moutray Read. Anketell Read was commissioned 2nd Lieutenant in The Gloucestershire Regiment on 21st November 1903. He served in India. He was 30 years old, and a Captain in the 1st Battalion, The Northamptonshire Regiment, British Army during the First World War when the following deed took place for which he was awarded the Victoria Cross. This is the highest and most prestigious award for gallantry in the face of the enemy that can be awarded to British and Commonwealth forces. Beaumont House was later owned by the Tilley family, who ran a large muffin bakery in the town. The tiled floor in the reception area was restored in the 1980's, after the recovering discarded tiles from the same period when an adjacent house was being renovated. During the 1980s, Beaumont House was converted into a guest house and it has undergone extensive renovation. It is now owned by Fiona Burke, an Irish businesswoman from Dublin. The hotel operates in a very modern way via a self check-in kiosk, with a duty manager contactable at all times. Smartphone check-in is also available via the TLJ Security app. Breakfast is a complimentary cereal bar and takeaway tea or coffee- super simple and very tasty! We have our own private carpark (there is a parking space for every guest bedroom) and two 22KW charging points suitable for all makes and model of car. Guests pay for charging via the EO Charging app (the QR code is located on the charger).

Absolutely spectacular experience in the 'Out of Africa' room

Reviewed By Hardeep R

I was recently on a business trip in Cheltenham and at the last minute booked this Hotel. I honestly had no expectations other than to get a comfortable bed where I could rest for the night. I was lucky enough to meet the owner on arrival and I booked the 'Out of Africa' room. It was absolutely incredible. The attention to detail in the room was second to none and I literally felt that I was on Safari... The bathroom had a Jacuzzi which was much needed especially after a long day. I would recommend this hotel (and particularly this room) to anyone and I will definitely be back there again on my next visit.

Luxury apartments in great location

Reviewed By Milliekm

Was given an access code to enter the property which was so easy to use - no fuss of keys or hotel card to worry about. The apartment was clean, immaculate & quiet considering location was 5mins from centre. With booking direct we had a welcome basket of milk, chocolate, biscuits, loaf of bread & orange juice which was a lovely welcomed touch. The toiletries in the bathroom were a nice touch too. The only issue is the drain smell from both kitchen & bathroom sink. We managed to close the bathroom door which helped a bit but may need looking at. There was no bleach available to put down the sink. We only stayed 3 nights but if staying longer might have been a major problem. Would recommend to others & would return again when visiting Cheltenham.

Overnight Stay in Junior Suite whilst visiting the Ivy in the Montpellier District

Reviewed By Paul F

Having stayed previously in the Malmaison in both Dundee and Manchester, our Junior Suite at the Malmaison, in Cheltenham, was most disappointing and desperately in need of a refurbishment. Our Room No 218 was spacious but the furniture resembled that of a tired Travelodge. The floor was bouncing when walking to the window side of the bed and the fridge didn't work. The lighting was also very dim and my girlfriend struggled with the poor illumination when doing her hair and make-up. The young man on reception was very polite and apologetic, however, in summary the room was very tired and overpriced.

Caution about deposits on bookings

Reviewed By Steve-Acrefair

I booked two rooms for two nights for April 2023. Their confirmation email said a deposit would be taken before 5 April 2023. I then find they have taken the whole amount from my credit card with no notification. The management at this hotel totally failed to comprehend the difference between a deposit and a full payment. Lots of emails and I received a partial refund. It would be much easier if IHG simply said up front how much deposit would be taken and when. A very good hotel by the way, however, I'll use booking.com for my next booking with them methinks.
