This travelodge was beautiful and clean. The staff were so friendly and kind. We didn’t realise this travelodge had no lift and we had an elderly wheelchair user with us. The staff there immediately placed us on the ground floor and really couldn’t do enough for us.

Nice spot

Reviewed By SeaAdventurer2014

We were a bit pushed to find accommodation and this appeared to still be available. No staff were on reception and there was a rowdy football crowd in the bar, however after a few minutes of calling a super helpful lady appeared and told us where to park for free. The crowd was for the FA final and left within an hour, the room was comfortable, large (room for three) and clean with a great view over the station and the smart TV worked well enough to catch up on iplayer and watch Ukraine win Eurovision. Breakfast was good, although my veggie breakfast caused a bit of confusion and my partner's breakfast was described as 'normal food'. Nice history of the hotel on the breakfast mats

Hospitable Hosts

We stayed here just before Lockdown2 commenced and drove over to the island for a morning (day cut short by the tide) before heading back home. Berwick-upon-Tweed is just a few miles North, with the Scottish border just a couple of miles further. If you're staying as tourists, as we were, you will need transport. The rooms are located on the first floor - not ideal for persons with limited mobility - and are both roomy and fresh. The photos show the view from the window - you can see the island (of Lindisfarne) - and its a great location if you're travelling, since its right next to the A1. With the windows closed we heard no traffic noise. Our room faced South enjoying views across to Lindisfarne, down the A1 and across open fields. Covid restrictions are strictly enforced - for the benefit of everyone's health. We had a pizza as an evening meal - best one i've tasted! Under normal circumstances you would be able to enjoy a drink in the bar with a convivial atmosphere. As it was we took a drink up to the room and enjoyed our pizza in front of the television. The breakfast, like the evening meal, was freshly cooked and delicious. Tea and coffee making facilities in the room. Nice, fluffy towels with complementary soap and shower gel. The staff really made our break special, going out of their way to make us comfortable whilst adhering to the strict health and safety protocol. Recommended

Roxburgh Guest Accommodation

The Roxburgh seafront guest accommodation is family owned and ran by the Exley’s, building on the good reputation of previous owners Eileen and Jimmy Calder. All our rooms are comfortable and spacious, and come complete with internet access, satellite TV, toiletries, tea/coffee facilities, hair dryer and iron on request. A light or full cooked breakfast is available and special diets can be catered for (please inform us in advance). Spittal is perfect for a spot of fresh air, the promenade is flat, so great for cycling and scooting. Walkers and cyclists are welcome and we can store cycles safely during your stay. Situated in north Northumberland, our property is in the small seaside resort of Spittal at the mouth of the river Tweed, a short distance from the historic market town of Berwick-on-Tweed and close to the Scottish border. Spittal boasts one of the finest natural beaches on the spectacular Northumberland coast, part of the area designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) and overlooks the sandy beach and bay, with views of the lighthouse and glimpses of the Holy Island of Lindisfarne and Bamburgh Castle further down the coast. The location is an ideal base for exploring the unspoilt coastline, picturesque towns and villages, as well as being minutes from the A1 and roughly about an hour’s drive to either Scotland's capital city Edinburgh or the shopping and party city of Newcastle upon Tyne. Berwick-upon-Tweed also boasts the most northerly railway station on the English rail network. Train services run regularly southbound to Newcastle and stations beyond to London Kings Cross, and northbound into Scotland for Edinburgh, Glasgow and as far as Aberdeen and Inverness.

Excellent guest house with excellent hosts

What a great guest house, booked 2 rooms for a girls overnight stay and definitely not disappointed. From arriving Allison and Graham were brilliant, very friendly and helpful, our room on the first floor was very big with a double and single bed with a fabulous view looking onto the North Sea, although we had to share a bathroom it was very big with a bath with a shower over it, towels were in individual bags and very soft and fluffy, in the room we had a table top fridge with water and milk, good amount of tea and coffee and a selection of biscuits. The beds were so comfy with very nice pillows. Breakfast was very good, cooked to order and with plenty of toast and individual teapots for our teas, fruit juice, yoghurts and cereal were available to help yourself and nice little jars of jam and marmalade, these owners have only been there a few weeks and have some exciting changes taking place to make all rooms en suites and I can imagine it will be tastefully done. Would we stay again…..most definitely

Sunday Lunch - wow

Reviewed By Harshcritic28

We visited on the day that they started offering Sunday lunch. I had the pork and my husband had the beef (I was too excited to eat to take a photo of his!) the food was outstanding. Meat cooked perfectly, delicious crackling and the sharing portion of vegetables were served in lovely dishes. They said they change the meat offer weekly. We will definitely be back - weekly if we lived closer! We then had a fantastic stay with our newborn in one of the hot tub rooms. Comfortable bed, and very peaceful stress free stay!
