Chalet della Guida

Just 5 km from Bardonecchia, along a picturesque mountain road that climbs between larches and firs, you reach the ancient village of Rochemolles. Here, in this village of yesteryear, the Chalet of the Guide is set in perfect harmony with the surrounding nature. Each apartment is equipped with every comfort: fully equipped kitchen, TV and free Wi-Fi. The contact with nature and the greenery that surrounds it, has led the owners to create a large and spacious outdoor area with a playgruond for children, relaxation area and barbeque, to allow guests to share convivial moments. In addition, a sauna and a reading area have been recently installed. If you want to live the mountain in its true essence or you are looking for a holiday surrounded by nature.. this is the best place!

Ideal for groups.

These are beautifully situated apartments about a ten minute drive up the mountains from Bardonecchia. The residence provided us with a lift to and from Bardonecchia, free of charge, every day. Breakfast was also provided which was lovely. All staff were extremely helpful, Especially Silvia, who went above and beyond for us. She spoke perfect English to us and was very obliging. She helped us with things that were way beyond her line of duty and was also contactable to facilitate us. Thank you Silvia!! You are amazing!! We all fell in love with Bardonecchia and would highly recommend Chalet Della Guida.

Just stayed here in room 108 , which is on the road opposite the train station, but the double glazing window keeps that noise out, can only say as a couple this accommodation was fantastic, clean up to date decor. Very friendly and welcoming service, 1 min walk to super market, and also 1 minute to the bus that takes you to the ski area, these are every 20 mins. The lovely town is just 3 minute walk away. Did keep our ski boots/snowboard stuff in our room instead of the ski room as it was cold.

Guests seem to be an inconvenience- DONT RUIN YOUR HOLIDAY BY STAYING HERE!

Reviewed By Richard L

We stayed here as part of a Crystal Ski break, and wouldn’t advise anyone else to do so! There are many many many things wrong with this hotel, but the overall vibe is that guests seem to be seen as an inconvenience! The place simply doesn’t cater for a ski holiday. As previous reviews have mentioned, the ski room is small, cramped, unsafe, unsecure and there aren’t enough lockers for each room, so people need to share- even if you don’t know them... and there is only one key... apparently! We chose not to bother and simply keep our boots in the room- again, an inconvenience. The rooms are dated, uncomfortable, and pretty poor. The fold out beds for a 'twin' are some thin mattress stuffed in the corner of the room- its not a bed. Shower is all mouldy, shower head doesn’t stay up, towels are threadbare, no tea and coffee making facilities (you can ask at reception for 'facilities' but all you get is a rubbish kettle, so you have to share.... how pathetic!! The food is like gruel, tiny portions, most of the time cold, you need to decide what you want for dinner during breakfast, and its just awful. Apart from the staff, the food is the absolute worst thing about this place. The salad bar can be ok, but the 'first' and 'second' courses are simply disgusting and I wouldn’t feed this to my dog. As a previous review states, unless you are there at the time the place opens (like some kind of concentration camp), then there is nothing left and you'll starve. This all said, nothing prepares you for the simple rudeness, arrogance and ignorance of the staff. The reception staff simply don’t care, can't take criticism and will just fob you off. In years of business and pleasure travel, and after staying in thousands of hotels, these people are something to behold and possibly the worst I have ever experienced. The restaurant staff 'seem' to care, but really don't. Bardoneccia is pretty desolate as a place, and my advice (and the advice of everyone in our party, and many other who stayed there) would be to stay somewhere else and simply walk the 200yds or so to the slopes. Don't ruin your holiday by staying here!!!!!

Depending on your budget and how much luggage you travel with thus is basic beyond basic. The bathroom is in need of updating. The kitchen area could have been laid out as ad L-shape plan. We are here with crystal in apartment 7 maisonette style room. The kids have the mezzanine floor and the double bed is way too big for the floor space. Not enough hangers in the wardrobe or floor space to put down a bag although the shelf area behind the bed is good to keep your stuff off the floor. The window has a draft there is no radiator on that level. The lighting is inadequate and the support pillar is next to the single bed is a hazard when getting up. There are not enough hooks to hang your ski clothes to dry out. Downstairs there is not enough floor space under the stairs to store luggage bags if there are 4/5 of you with a bag each you will be falling over your bags. The cabling first the uplighter is dodgy and needs to pulled in and out from the plug to turn on. The double sofa bed downstairs is hard and next to the patio door which has a draft even with the curtains pulled there is not much privacy when curtains are pulled open as the next apartment block can see straight in. There is not enough worktop space to cook and prepare food so not even going to use the hob. the kettle is placed on the hob and plugged in to the left next to the bathroom door which has no ventilation only a fan extractor and can get very steamy when the shower is on - drink plenty water straight after in case of dehydration. The electrics in Italy are hit and miss and thus place is bad. If the neighbouring apt are up and moving the chairs on tiled floor you can hear it as well as their plumbing. From a security point of view the back fire exit doors are easy opened from the outside and accessed to the lift to all floors. The front door is locked at night and although your are given a bunch of keys I could not get the door to open so we entered from the back. This is also quite dangerous as the tiled that are layer down are slippery when wet, loose and ungrouted. Because there is no snow in the town this February the location from the bus stop to walk in ski boots is too hard so we hired 2 lockers at the ski shop at the bottom of campo smith lift. Shame that the crystal rep or the shop didn’t tell you until you got the equipment. I had to push in and pay €30 per locker for the week as the alternative of walking uphill on a dry road with the ski boots would be unbearable everyday. Also the ski shop that Crystal use is only open from 2-3 on the day of your arrival and luckily we arrived at 1:30 and beat the queue it is very small and very hot. Something that the rep should have warned us about. Our flight from Standstead got in at 8:30 our coach had to wait for the Gatwick flight another 1:30hrs and then only one family got on. There were only 13 of us on the bus. So far not happy .

We visited Bardonecchia to visit with friends from the area. I am accustomed to staying in hotels, so there was a bit of uncertainty for me as to how this would work out, but Vittorio was a most excellent host, helping with literally every part of our stay from helping arrange a shuttle van from Turin airport to pointing out local points of interest. We had an amazing first trip to Italy in no small part due to Vittorio and La Tana Del Ghiro. Highly recommended. One note for those who like to sleep in: The nearby church bells ring every half an hour, which woke us up most days. We came to call this the “Bardonecchia Alarm Clock” - but truth be told, I actually appreciated it as it got us up and moving, and it was actually a fairly pleasant way to be awakened.

A true 5 star experience- like staying with family

Reviewed By Nick S

I had read previous reviews and that influenced my decision to book for solo ski holiday. Directly opposite the main ski resort; easy to walk in ski boots, yet quiet and relaxing. The restaurant manager really pulls out all the stops to professionally deliver exceptional customer service with a smiling happy quietly efficient team. The bonus of returning to 3 heated indoor small hot tub/ small pools with showers and changing room was a delight. Cosy authentic mountain style hotel which looks the part and delivers on all aspects. The hotel description and amenities accurate. Small desk and fridge in single room which was the most comfy and spacious of any I’ve stayed in. Half board was a delightful simple but tasty menu and plenty. Lounge and bar area relaxing and prices very moderate. I’d return tomorrow.

Hotel Rosa Serenella

The Rosa Serenella Hotel is one of the historical places you don't want to miss on your journey in Bardonecchia. It is located near the train station, the shopping lane and the ski centers. Rosa Serenella has rooms to fit every need you may have! In fact, you can choose among single, double, twin, triple or family rooms (flats for families or friends, with two rooms each and private bathrooms, most of this rooms have also an amazing view towards the mountains) The new managers strongly believe that the warm and familiar atmosphere, the typical Piemontese cuisine and the strict neatness are the right combination to offer you all a pleasant journey.

Good hotel for long weekend ski trip

Reviewed By Tim D

I stayed at Hotel Rosa Serenella when I recently visited Bardonecchia with a group of friends for a ski trip. The hotel is located a ten-minute walk from the ski slopes (or from the bus stop that takes you up to the Jafferau area of the region). I would recommend leaving your skis and boots in the lockers or ski shop so you don't have to lug them back and forth each day - the walk would take longer than ten minutes in ski boots! The rooms at the hotel are just what you need - providing a hot shower and comfy bed (although the single beds are small!) And the staff are very friendly - and very happy to teach guests a bit of Italian! Breakfast at Hotel Rosa (served between 8 and 9:30am) was a little disappointing - there seemed to be no hot option such as egg or waffle, and the cheese and ham levels were often low. But there was plenty of cereal, bread (and jams), cake (strange for breakfast) and coffee. Having said that, on the morning we were up early, the breakfast seemed better - so I'd recommend going to breakfast earlier rather than later. The wifi at the hotel works well, but is patchy in the bedrooms (but this is made clear by the owners). Our group ate at the hotel one evening and were pleasantly surprised at how nice the food was. I had the tagliolini and smoked salmon and would highly recommend it! Overall, this hotel is a good spot for a ski holiday with good friends.
