Warsaw Hostel Centrum

Our Hostel first opened in 2016. Warsaw Hostel Centrum was supposed to be a bit different, to stand out from the crowds. Our message is: We're Polish and we're proud of our heritage. We'd like to teach you a bit about our culture and history - isn't it one of the reasons we travel? That's why every room and common area is decorated with large wallpapers introducing famous Poles and important events from Polish history. You can learn all about it by scanning a QR code - simple as that. Looks cool as well! Obviously we couldn't fit in everything, the Hostel is nowhere near big enough for that, but it's a start. What else do we offer? 24 hour reception desk equipped with a safe to store your most precious valuables large common area with satellite TV guest kitchen & dining area free tea & coffee free luggage storage drinks, snacks & toiletries available at the reception desk secure key card system dorm rooms equipped with lockers, luggage baskets, reading lamps & small shelves laundry service, use of iron & ironing board towels for rent free Wi-Fi access throughout plus two guest computers in common area knowledgeable staff that live, study and party in Warsaw - an excellent source of local tourist and party information free city maps shared bathrooms equipped with hair dryers games to borrow (free of course) like jenga, scrabble, cards, dominoes, etc.

After arriving in Warsaw, Poland enroute to Ukraine made the decision to remain in Warsaw for a few days prior to heading to Leiv and Kyiv, Ukraine. Book a five night stay at the Warsaw Hostel Centrum in downtown Warsaw. This hostel is an adult-only property conveniently located a short distance from the Palace of Culture & Science (a 3-minute walk) and a 7-minute walk to Warszawa Centralna Train Station. Golden Terraces Shopping Center with a multitude of shops is just a short distance away. The property is accessed through a gate at 36 Emilii Plater Street. The hostel is in the courtyard. Due to the coronavirus (COVID-19), wearing a face mask is mandatory in all indoor communal areas. This hostel has a 24-hour staffed front desk fluent in English, Polish and Russian, a small kitchen and a luggage storage room available for use by its clients. Free coffee, and tea are available in the lobby as well as a computer station. Additional items (juice, soft drinks, and water) may be purchased at the reception desk. This twenty-five-room hostel has a variety of rooms available from double rooms to a bunk in an 8-bunk dormitory room. Nonsmoking room are also available. Restroom facilities are shared and located at the end of the hallways. Stayed in room 217 at the end of the second-floor hallway. This is an 8-bunk dormitory style room. Each bunk comes with sheets, blankets, and pillow. A metal locker is provided to storage your luggage. Towels are not provided and may be purchased at the front desk if needed. Bunk bed was comfortable, and the blanks will keep you warm on very cold nights. Be advised this facility is open 24 hours a day, and guest come and go at all hours. Some guests are mindful of others, and try to limit their noise, while others have no respect for sleeping guests and go out of their way to disturb everyone. Overall, a suitable place and price for a budget stay! Due to a medical emergency was unable to travel to Ukraine. Had to cancel the remainder of my trip and return to the USA for immediate medical treatment. Hostel Centrum Warsaw was very accommodating and went out of their way to assist me. Thank you for your help during my medical crisis. Would highly recommend this facility to everyone traveling to Warsaw on a budget or just visiting for a few days. You will not find a better location and helpful staff. Will be returning to Poland in the future and will be most certainly staying at this facility.

Larceny

Last night a MacBook Pro was stolen from the room. It was taken out of a locked drawer. The thief had keys and access to different rooms and corridors of the hostel, as well as keys to the locks. The thief was a young swarthy Asian man, 165-166 m tall, black hair, fairly long, falling down over his face, thus covering it. He was dressed in a gray coat, black pants, and had a surgical mask on his face. The thief is able to enter the rooms, there he changes his clothes. He carries a large black bag that is not of a sporty type. All this was tracked on the cameras. In addition, I ran into him personally in the corridor (at that time not knowing that he was a thief). Most likely, he has accomplices working with him: a man and a woman, both Polish, pretending to be a couple. They are not young. The woman is older than the man, slim, about 50-55. Wears a short haircut, leather jacket (not black). The man is younger, tall, thin. The robbery in this hostel happened yesterday. However, this time was not the first time! It turned out that the same Asian man had already come to this hostel a couple of days earlier, and had also robbed someone. However, if on his first visit he was extremely careful, and quickly left, this time he made a "tour" of the second and third floors. The robbery happened in the evening, around 10 p.m. The administration of the hostel is aware of what happened. But so far the thefts continue. The thief has free access to the second and third floors of the hostel for sure.

Tatamka Hostel

There's no doubt that the Tatamka hostel stands out above other accommodation in Warsaw. One of the biggest advantages is its superb location - the building is just around the corner from the most popular streets in the city, Nowy Swiat and Krakowskie Przedmiescie, and a short 15 minute walk from the Old Town. What does this mean? Put simply, you are within staggering distance of countless clubs, bars, pubs and restaurants.Other attractions of the capital city are also nearby: the business centre, shopping malls and numerous monuments - the Royal Baths included! With all these attractions around, you probably won't just be hanging round the hostel. That being said, it's good to know what this place has to offer: private rooms for 1, 2, 3 or 4 people (with or without bathrooms) as well as single places in bigger rooms: for 6, 8 and 10 people. We take care that the type of room and furnishings of the hostel suit each visitor - although the classical backpacker is well catered for because hostels are made primarily for them. That's why you'll find, amongst other things:- A common room with DVD player - an ideal place to relax and have a chat,- Free internet access (as well as wireless internet connection),- A fully-equipped kitchen,- Free coffee and tea,- Barbeque facilities.Because of the varied standards of our rooms and the many services provided on the hostel premises, our satisfied guests are also varied - foreign tourists visiting Warsaw, businessmen, organized groups and conference participants. Not only backpackers feel at home here!

Booked three nights to stay in a double room with private bathroom with my boyfriend. We didn't expect much, but couldn't really find a nice place in Warsaw anyway, so we chose to book it. Turned out a mistake. We stayed 10 minutes, I asked if we could change the room 'cause our room was not quite as presented on Booking. It was run down, had three single beds (not one double bed as expected) bathroom stank of chlorine and was moldy literally all over. Hallway looks like prison, so does the building from the outside. A change of rooms was not possible, because they were fully booked. When we checked out the lady at the reception tried to call the manager, But didn't reach him, to ask if she could offer us a refund. No answer so far (1day +) and I don't expect anything tbh. Do yourself a favor and don't go there. 10€ more and you can have a sparkling clean apartment somewhere else in Warsaw!

An unforgettable night

Reviewed By Mattfuller

I must admit that my visit was to the affiliated golden moon bar which unfortunately lacks a trip advisor page - a mistake I hope is soon rectified We were initially skeptical of the street salesman promoting the bar, even dismissive. However after enjoying a drink in the nearby former communist party headquarters we decided to chance it. This is a truly remarkable bar, the entertainment and crowd were of a top calibre. I made friends which I’m certain will last for years. Conversation and free drinks flowed. We were made to feel like regulars by some of the local ladies. A certain dummy thicc woman was notably hospitable Unfortunately have to knock off one star as the more rotund waitress brought a round of GHB shots we didn’t order. Will be back

We can ensure cosy rooms, cleanliness and good fun.

Okay stay

Your average stay, nothing more. The hostel is located quite centrally to major landmarks, about 30min walk to the old town. It’s a very old building so don’t expect any luxury, and when you’re coming in winter time make sure you bring warm PJ’s. During check in we were told that each key comes with a 20zl deposit, I gave the receptionist 50zl expecting to get the rest back. When I asked for it she told me with an attitude that ‘that’s not how it works mr’, and that whatever I give her gets put in the deposit box which I will get back at checkout.

For my 3 night stay this place was adequate. Rooms were nice, internet fast and location ok easy enough to get bus to downtown. Staff fairly good but sometimes very slow to get service for a coffee or ask a question. Maybe need more staff on desk. Breakfast is ok not amazing and laundry is handy to use. I'd stay again if ever in Warsaw.

Once payment was made, staff's attitude changed

Reviewed By mbmoers

I made a last-minute booking. The hostel staff was friendly and very responsive. As the reception closes at 8 pm, she told me that I could get the key from a key box when I arrive at 9 pm, after prepaying for the stay. This worked very smoothly. The room was more or less as expected - not outstanding but I also wouldn't complain. However, the towels (and soap) that they were supposed to provide were missing. I don't carry a towel when traveling. I immediately emailed the staff and started looking for a towel in the public areas in vain. The consequence was: I could not take a shower and was wiping my hands on my t shirt. Well, mistakes happen. However, what really disappointed me: 1. I had to address this issue up myself during checkout, even though I emailed 12 hours earlier 2. The staff said "sorry" and nothing more. 3. I had to repeatedly state that I'm disappointed, and that it was a real inconvenience that there wasn't a towel provided. I found it really disappointing getting answers like: During the current pandemic, some travellers don't even want a towel. I was 'upgraded' to another room that I did not even ask for. 4. I told the staff that I'm disappointed and want to give them a chance to make up for it. And that I can't acceptable being told unrelated arguments. Finally she gave in and told me she'd talk to her manager a few hours later to ask for a refund. I asked her to get back to me by email, no matter what is the response. 5. Two nights have passed since and I haven't heard from them. I'm disappointed by the unprofessional behavior much more than by the fact that the towel was missing, thus I'm venting through this review and warning another travellers. I will be staying in places where paying customers are treated the way they deserve next time.

Not suitable for Women/Person of Color/LGBTQ+ member

The 1 here is down to one reason: Disgusting remark from one receptionist, who was visibly furious merely due to the fact that I booked on Booking.com. (Minor suggestion, instead, was and would have been perfectly acceptable by me). What she doesn't understand is that, the equilibrium leans on the client's side so Booking.com is necessary to protect the clients as 3rd party, (which is the ability to review right now). I will contact with Booking.com to discuss further about the intimidation tactics of this Hostel. If the Hostel doesn't wish to be there, they are free to take off their profile. Also if you are a Person of Color/of LGBTQ/women, avoid the mixed room no matter how cheap. I stayed in a 8 bed dorm room where 5 others were out-and-out racists, most were vulgar and drunk Polish, who had no joke other than your ethnicity and prostitutions. When alone on your own, it was difficult. Take a wild guess who she sided with, all about a few bucks. I don't know why but I didn't have this experience in another Hostel (Hostel Chillout). The stench of beer/cigarette from the mixed room stinks the entire corridor, since the guests and Hostel are too lazy to throw trash away. There are 2 toilets each for each gender, in the morning, there is a high chance you are in trouble, and no excuse for the Hostel not to install more. There are also other reviews on Booking.com which reflects the experience.
