Elbrus Home, formerly known as Kathmandu Tourist Bungalow, was established in 2003. The hostel lies in the hub of the tourist center Thamel. It is located nearby several supermarkets, bus stations, travel and trekking agencies, restaurants and bars, bookshops, and internet cafes. In addition, most embassies are easily accessible from the guesthouse. Rooms offer twin size and king size beds, a television, hot shower, and western style toilets. It was clean, in a good location, served a great breakfast and the staff were extremely helpful. Would definitely recommend and would certainly stay here again

I went solo to Nepal and I, certainly, didn't feel alone thanks to them. Denis restaurant is a hidden oasis in the middle of Thamel. You will enjoy the calm there, after spending the whole day wandering in Katmandu streets.

Reviewed By patrickhV6122YYKrishna and his staff will make your time in Kathmandu easy and fun. Krishna is both a tremendous host and an adept local fixer. Their customer service is better and far more friendly than that of the more expensive Thamel hotels. Bag Packers is a four-story building with clean rooms and plenty of hot water. On the roof there is a very clean restaurant with excellent dumplings, beer, and coffee. No hotel in Thamel is quiet. The streets are lively and that is what makes life here so much fun. However, Bag Packers rooms are very private and secure. Bag packers is surrounded by thamels most iconic bars, restaurants and shops. Finally, if you've never been to Kathmandu before this is the place for you. Check in, drink a beer, rest your feet, enjoy the air conditioning or the fan, get a hot shower, and ask Krishna's advice concerning your business in Nepal. You are in good hands. I also posted this review on Google. I made a TripAdvisor account to also post it here. That's how good our stay was.

Reviewed By Patrick RGreat place to stay. The staff is incredibly friendly and always helpful. The free breakfast is good too. There is a great garden outside to hang out in or eat breakfast. No AC but fans in the rooms. Some rooms are a little old feeling but good price.

Reviewed By Cameron JReally nice hotel, with modern reception and rooms and a very chilled out vibe throughout. My room was very clean, including the en-suite. My bed was very comfortable and the temperature was always good. The location is basically perfect for Kathmandu as a tourist, only a few mins walk from Z street and all the bars around there. Also very close to the Lord of Drinks Club but far enough not to hear it at night. The staff here were incredible to me. As a first time solo traveller I was nervous at the start of my trip, however the staff made me feel very welcome as soon as I arrived. In particular the hotel manager Santosh Adhikari, organised me a full 8-day itinerary through his contacts in the tourism industry. Coming to Nepal with only the plan to stay in Kathmandu, I visited Pokhara and Chitwan, and having the stress of organising activities such as paragliding and a safari tour taken away through his contacts made my trip so much better than if I was to attempt to book it myself. He also organised my Covid tests that were needed to travel to my next country, and booked taxis for me at short notice. Also Santosh Bhandari was great to me, who was the first person I met in Nepal when he picked me up from the airport, and also woke up at 5:30am so that I could go to see the sunrise in Sagarkot.

The best thing was the very nice, friendly and helpful staff. They help you with everything they can (bus tickets, recommandations, maps..) I could contact the hotel manager via Whatsapp which is very easy and helpful. He responded very quickly. For a travellers alone this hotel is perfect! Thank you for everything.

They offer many services to help you plan your stay in Nepal. Some of the activities may be priced slightly higher than some of the other local places but I'd rather take them up on this than someone who I don't know if I can trust. The prices are no where near as high as if you booked online! They offer everything you could need in a hostel. Reasonably priced rooms and a large communal space over looking the city

A nice walk into the center (thamel) and located in the beautiful area of swayhumbu which is rich in culture and also has some peaceful spots. The staff are so helpful and the owner pawan will help you with absolutely everything you need during your visit in nepal, even when you are far away from khatmandu he couldn't be happier to help you. If your visiting khatmandu this hostel is an absolute must. My favourite hostel I've ever stayed in, be sure to check it out :)
