Gangtok – The Capital of Sikkim, Irreverent, cheerful and pleasantly boisterous, Sikkim’s modern capital is layered along a precipitous mountain ridge, descending the hillside in steep tiers. Viewpoints survey plunging green valleys that remain beautiful even when partly shrouded in mist. If the weather plays ball, look for glimpses of snow-topped Khangchendzonga on the distant skyline. This downhill walk is designed to explore the city and bring out the rich cultural heritage and show how Gangtok has been able to modernize yet hold its charm.

The issue started before the travel even started. Instead of booking in October , the Reservation Manager have booked in September. The Host of Home Stay in Zuluk , Mr. Penjo Lama have confirmed that there are no bookings in my names on that dates. Inspite of an advance and a confirmed booking , now I am stranded with my family and friends with kids. Very unreliable .Except the Home Owner no one will pick up phones on Sundays. For a tourism industry there cannot be any Holidays as guests might face problems any day. I am unable to understand how this site is taking booking and advance on the same dates for two different persons. There is no grantee of your booking. Everything cannot be taken under the shelter of technical hitch. To a traveller what is important is reliability and word of mouth. I am not going to accept any alternative accommodation as i have already a confirmed booking thru booking.com.The question is reliablity which is alarming. This is a Story Walk & one of our most popular tours, certified by so many travelers through the years! If you like listening to stories about the Raj days and Kolkata then this is your tour! It is a very interesting story of how the British started trading in this part of the world rivalling earlier European entrants. Many a booming cannon later, they became the leading traders. What followed was a small fort, a big port, a great battle, many changing fortunes and lots of colonial cunning & politics. The East India Company & later the Flag of the Empire gave a lot of importance to Calcutta for its trading, political and administrative clout. She was after all the Capital of British India for a long time & arguably the second most important city in the Empire. Along with Defense & Administration came institutions for Entertainment, Education & Emancipation. The light of European renaissance came as an ambient source & later cascaded into its own indigenous, self generating brightness.

Inclusions: Coffee and/or Tea, Bottled water, All Fees and Taxes

Exclusions: Private transportation, WiFi on board, Gratuities, expenses of a personal nature, etc.

KC (Kaushik Chatterjee) was an exceptional guide as he shared Kolkata with our family. Our day started at the flower market followed by chai tea along the Ganges river, a tour through areas of theater, music, arts, and academics all while learning about the fascinating history and culture of the Kolkata and India. KC was always attentive to the needs of our group and coordinated with our schedule. Having a personal guide who shared not just knowledge but a love and passion for his home left us with our own special bond to Kolkata.

What a day we had in “ The City of Joy” in the knowledgeable and reliable hands of our tour guide Muzaffar Khan. We throughly enjoyed our comprehensive tour with the added option of flexibility to spend longer or shorter in any location. Our favourite places to visit were , Marble Place/Malik House (blew our minds), Park Street Cemetery, Flower Market, Saint (Mother) Theresa House, Kumortali (Potters Town) and Howrah Bridge. Lunch included was delicious. We also used this company’s car service for airport at the end of our trip and during our wonderful time in Kolkata.
