A fantastic day out enjoying the Hawk and Owl encounter. A beautiful place in a fantastic location and an unforgettable experience with friendly knowledgeable staff Jo and Emily getting to meet lots of beautiful birds of prey and getting to fly 5 different kinds of them. The centre also does lots of well needed conservation work with wild birds of prey too. Would highly recommend and am definitely planning a return visit.

78 Derngate

78 Derngate is the only house in England designed by Charles Rennie Mackintosh. It is now a multi award-winning visitor attraction offering an unforgettable day out in Northampton. Designed and remodelled by Charles Rennie Mackintosh in 1916, the house has been meticulously restored and opened to the public. On site: a boutique restaurant, light-filled art galleries, a stylish design shop and elegant spaces that can be hired for meetings, events and functions. 78 Derngate was the architect's final major commission; his visionary patron, Northampton model engineer, W.J Bassett-Lowke. It is the only place in the world where Mackintosh's mature architectural and interior style can be seen in their original setting. As such, the house has drawn many thousands of visitors from around the globe. Now you can follow in their footsteps and see this unique work from one of Britain's most influential and celebrated designers. Having been underwhelmed by several local National Trust properties, we visited this privately owned estate. Wow! totally blown away, so much to see and do - the chilli collection alone is worth coming for, who knew there were so many varieties of chilli peppers! And the little zoo - where you really can get up close and personal to the animals, who, by the way, all look really well cared for. The gardens are just beautiful - varying from the manicured to the wild. And, unlike some properties, there are no signs up telling you not to do this and that, you are free to wander and discover the beauty of this place. It's the kind of place you could come back to repeatedly and still find something different. We absolutely loved it.
