Agios Ioannis Lambadistis Monastery

Reviewed By 118val - Shepparton, Australia

The Monastery is situated in the Troodos Mountains and is well worth the windy drive to this picturesque town. There were very few visiting so it was peaceful, the priest was knowledgeable and pleasant. Some of the fragmented wall paintings date back to the 11th and 12th century and the other frescoes from the 13th and 14th century. There are three small churches and a number of other rooms including an oil press to explore.

Kykkos Monastery (Panagia tou Kykkou)

founded in the 12th century, the monastery is dedicated to the Virgin Mary and contains many precious icons and relics.

Reviewed By Ingver_76 - Riga, Latvia

We were really lucky because there are no people these times travelling around and we were not more than 5 in the church and monastery. You should read the history of this place and I can say only one thing - the icon is very “strong” when I have approached it I instantly felt tears, it is amazing. 2020 years people are praying to this holy mother. This is strong. One thing to add - to get there is pretty tough- more then 50 km on serpentine road, it is a real challenge

Panagia Asinou Church

Reviewed By yiannava - Nicosia, Cyprus

The church is located in the woods and the drive to the church is really scenic. It has amazing frescoes very well preserved. A book is on sale which offers full details. No audio guide. There is no artificial light inorder to preserve the frescoes. Wear comfortable shoes as the path to the church is cobblestone but access is not difficult. Can combine the visit here with lunch to one of the restaurants in the vicinity.

This monastery is an integral part of Cyprus's modern history and located in an idyllic location overlooking the valley. I set it as my half-way point while cycling the gorgeous and quiet hilly roads of Machairas and it was an uplifting place to visit.

Reviewed By Alex_vs - Perm, Russia

The only city in the world, which is the capital of two states at once: Nicosia. Accurate exactly five meters from the dividing line is the only micro-brewery in Nicosia with the original name Πίβο. Four regular varieties are the Weissen, a dark lager, a hopped-up light red ale (so called Hoppy) and pils. At the time of our visit, there was another extra-stout No Exit and AIPA Antistressful on the tap. Open brewing allows you to monitor the work process. The bar is beautiful - bright and modern. At the same time, there are not all these new-fashioned "crafting" elements such as uncouth boards in the interior or, for example, beer in old enamel mugs. Pils - wonderful, has not received such pleasure from light beer for a long time. Weitzen is sweet. The dark lager is not mine at all. Ale - interesting: the aroma of hops is powerful, but bitterness is very small; an excellent balanced. Plus to beer go cookies of spargins with salt. In general, 5 points out of 5.

Cyprus Railways Museum

Reviewed By Brianngog - Avgorou, Cyprus

The Cyprus Railway Museum is a reminder that Cyprus did indeed have a Railway back in the day and Millions of trips were made so it was a success until the transportation of goods were transferred to Road. Great piece of renovation and well worth a visit. Free entry currently which makes it a win win visit. Plenty of interesting facts on show and the original rails in place. Lovely well kept gardens with lovely roses compliment the Museum. Very positive Covid measures in place as well.
