Celebrating their 19th season, Primitive Designs has been nominated for a provincial tourism award, has won Excellence in Local Economic Impact, People's Choice Online, Best Gift Store, and is home to the Big Robots, including a recent addition of a flying pterodactyl! A main attraction in Northumberland County, and Ontario! People come from miles around to browse and purchase Primitive Designs' beautiful handcrafted pieces, and there's something for everybody! We carry everything from Bamboo bars, carvings, masks, drums, and instruments to outdoor decor, pottery, jewelry, and clothing. The warehouse definitely must be seen to be believed.

We had personal business in a nearby town so stayed at a local hotel off of Hwy 401. On taking the back roads going North, we passed by this unique venue with metal robots and metal dinosaurs greeting us in the side yard. All are for sale...There were plenty of interesting and one of a kind gifts from all over the world in this unique building both upstairs and down.

This place is a constant stop on our road trips to the Woodstock/Norwich area from Mississauga. I like that they let you sample different cheeses so you can be sure to spend your money on something you will love at home. They have some really unique flavours, but their 5 Brothers is "award winning" for a reason: "it combines traits from Gouda and another Swiss variety called Appenzeller and delicately aged on cedar wood planks adding robust flavors to the cheese" (from their site). In retrospect, I considered myself privy to the different shops and what Niagara-On-the-Lake had to offer. However there was one local shop I had not yet visited, as of four or five years ago. That store was BeauChapeau. Fast forward to present day and many satisfied purchases later, I have come to know what I was missing out on. Not only that but I have come to realize what a retail store is capable of offering. Not just in terms of product selection, store layout and product quality but also great service and a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. I personally have grown to have a passion for fine men's hats, particularly driving and Ivy style caps, and this location consistently brings in new styles, colors and fabrics which in turn, keeps me coming back. Ladies if your reading this, please note that while the men's hat selection is considerable, the women's hat selection is vast. If you are planning on visiting Niagara-on-the-Lake, or have yet to stop by and see for yourself, I certainly recommend this shop as being one of the places to visit. Whatever style hat your in the market for, I am confident this shop will have something for you.

Love this shop,. We always stop by after we have lunch at he Erie Beach hotel for fresh person from Lake Erie. We are from Virginia US but have family in the area so we always stock up on Jenny's cheese when we are in the area. Jenny is very knowledgeable about all her cheese and we especially love trying the Canadian Cheeses. Would not be a trip to ON without vising her cheese shop. As soon as the border reopens we will be up there by visiting family, eating local perch and stocking up at the Dover Cheese Shop! This hosp is heaven for cheese lovers!

Took my fellow foodie friend Michelle here and got the saying tour. She said it was the best tour she’d ever been on. It’s a really cool little store. You can taste test any of the many olive oils and video vinegars and the owners have some great pairing recommendations. I am addicted to the lime olive oil/ pomegranate quince vinegar combo. I have it on salad at least 4X a week The orange olive oil and chocolate balsamic are delicious on vanilla ice cream There are too many delicious combos to name The owners will tell you about where they get their oil and how it is extracted etc. It’s very interesting Bring my sll your goodie friends when they come to visit. They won’t be disappointed
