The Clos Normand - Fondation Claude Monet

Reviewed By maryjanelk - Pleasant Valley, United States

We visited these gardens in Ocober, and I was was not sure if we were going to be able experience the beauty of the gardens that I had read about. Despite the time of year, there were many beautiful flowers. Monet designed the-gardent to be beautiful year round. There were only a few waterlilies in bloom, but the flowers surrounding the pond provided a perfect "frame" for my many photos. I would like to return each season to experience this artists living picture!

Jardin Agapanthe

Agapanthus Garden The Agapanthus Garden is above all the laboratory of the landscape architect. The subject of constant research, it is continually evolving. To present an idea of his work, Alexandre Thomas freely opens his garden to visitors. Enthusiasts from around the world eagerly travel to discover this unique example of garden art. Over more than 9,000m2 of gardens without lawns, visitors can enjoy the assembly of the designer's favourite plants. This contemporary garden is defined by its powerful structure. With strongly emphasized groundworks, a maze of terraces and walls, watercourses and pools create a succession of moods. It is covered by a fine layer of sand that enhances its qualities. Surprising in every season, the Agapanthus Garden has become a true source of inspiration. This profusion of plants also incorporates decorations, furniture and fountains that bring it to life as a unique and human space.

Les Jardins Suspendus

Reviewed By JGee4 - Somerset, United Kingdom

The botanical gardens of Le Havre, founded only in 2000, are formed within the old 19th century Vauban-style fort high above the city. There are great views of the city and docks and across the Seine estuary from the ramparts. The gardens are set out to demonstrate different plants from across the world, either in open beds or within a series of glasshouses with, for example, wonderful cacti, exotic tropical plants and orchids of all shapes and descriptions. There are experimental flower beds where the City tries out planting schemes for its parks and borders in town. Everything is labelled for the serious botanists, but this place can be enjoyed by everybody just as a park or somewhere for the kids to rush around.

Jardin des Plantes

Reviewed By tommargitson - Norwich, United Kingdom

Would have happily paid to enter but realised it was free when we got here. Huge park, brilliant plants and flowers all around and plenty to see. Ice cream shop doing a roaring trade when we came as very hot day. Loos could do with a bit more maintenance but they're free so can't complain too much. Definitely do this when in Rouen and worth the 30 min walk from city centre too.
