We were not expecting much when we parked in front of this art museum. I mean, I read it was free so I thought we'd be in and out in a mediocre museum within 25 minutes. These assumptions were very wrong. Instead we explored both galleries and it took us 3 hours to explore this great place. There are two separate pavilions. One is dedicated to the (expelled in 1492) Jews of Spain/Portugal and the other pavilion dedicated to some classic and modern (Dali) Latin American Art. Each pavilion is very different in terms of it's contents and architecture. Walking around, I was blown away by the Moorish architecture, the spacious grounds and facility, the attention to detail, history and cleanliness, (wait a minute, am I sure I am in Israel? Because usually these facilities are in a state of neglect with very little attention to detail. No, no, this place is a rare gemstone and is a must for any visitor. What a pleasant surprise!! My hat off to the Recanati family - thank you so much for this gift of a museum.

Ramat HaNadiv

Ganei HaNadiv (Ramat HaNadiv) is the name of the gardens that in my opinion, are the most beautiful gardens in Israel. Amazing, well-kept, and most spectacular gardens. The gardens are a memorial site to Baron Edmund de Rothschild and his wife, and in the center of the gardens is the tomb where their bones, which were brought to Israel in 1954, were buried. The tomb cave was hewn in the highest rocky area in the complex and around it are located stylish gardens on various topics such as: the Rose Garden, the Palm Garden, the Waterfall Garden, the Engagement garden and the most special of them all, is the Scent Garden, intended mainly for the blinds. The gardens have an abundance of stunning vegetation, rest areas and picnic areas. Suitable for a trip with children. Spectacular views on one hand mountains in the east and on the west views to the sea. Highly recommended for spending days and evenings. NOT 2 B MISSED.

Stella Maris Lighthouse and Carmelite Monastery

Serving as a pilgrimage centre, this impressive church of the Carmelite Order houses a collection of antiques and its nearby monastery once served as a hospital for Napoleon’s soldiers.

Had a simple and quiet lunch here at the monastery arranged by our pilgrimage operator. This after mass by our group and visiting the church itself with a statue of Virgin Mary venerated by many Catholics here. A cave underneath the altar is the statue of Prophet Elijah who had lived here for sometime. If you want to experience some solitude, this place in Haifa is the place to be.
