Wonderful painted and carved wooden screen and pulpit, painted ceiling and balcony. Candles to light. Wish there had been a booklet/notices explaining everything. Well worth dropping in whilst walking round the town.

These gardens are really well tended and ideal for either walking through, just sitting and admiring, or enjoying a picnic. There are a number of seats to rest and relax on and the iron entrance gate is really imposing. This is a really peaceful area and well worth a visit.

Dartmouth and its harbour are in a superb setting and we never tire of returning there. Parking in not always easy to find, but the pleasure we have from just strolling around is always worth the effort of finding a car space. There are a number of interesting and different shops to browse in and we invariably receive a lovely welcome whether we buy or not. We also enjoy the great views across the River Dart to Kingswear and down towards the sea. We recommend a visit to this lovely town.

The Ship Inn exudes traditional charm, offering visitors a classic British pub experience and unbeatable views of the River Dart. Its setting makes The Ship Inn a short drive from the South West Coastal Path, and ferry ride away from Dartmouth Harbour. Inside,a crackling log fire welcomes guests and provides a cosy spot to unwind, while the garden is ideal for warmer summer days. Whatever time of year you visit, you can be sure of a warm and friendly welcome from The Ship Inn's hospitable team. At the bar, there's an impressive range of real ale on offer alongside local and regional beer and proper West Country cider. Wine-lovers will likewise be left feeling spoilt for choice by the extensive wine list, wich offers bottles sourced from all over the world. The Ship Inn is now run by a friendly Italian family,so alongside a fantastic range of pub classics, you'll also discover a beautiful array of authentic Italian dishes, which the owner's mother helps prepare and cook fresh every day.
What a lovely pub! Very friendly and welcoming staff and locals. We ate lunch from the Italian menu and it was delicious! The seafood was incredible, so fresh and tasty! We’re only here for a week but we are planning to go back to try more. It’s definitely the best place we’ve eaten and a nice break from the usual pub grub fare in Dartmouth. We had booked in for lunch but stayed all afternoon for the fantastic local live band. It was the best way to spend a Sunday. The Ship Inn is an absolute gem of a pub and we can’t wait to go back.

A high-level 4.2 mile walk on the South West Coast Path around the cliffs above the mouth of the River Dart, where medieval monks kept a light burning in the chapel to let sailors know where the rocks were. Small birds call from the bushes and seals haul out on the rocks around the headland. Allow time for exploring the history around Dartmouth Castle, Warfleet Cove and Gallants Bower.
This is a gorgeous coastal walk with stunning coastal scenery from the coast and then to the river Dart estuary.

A 4.6 mile walk on the South West Coast Path travelling high around the mouth of the Dart Estuary, giving fine views over the 600 year old castles. Passing through woodland dedicated to the memory of a local hero and returning via the Daymark tower, the route visits the extensive remains of the WW2 Brownstone Battery, built to prevent enemy beach landings to the east.
Get your walking boots on and stride out from Kingswear along the south west coast path towards Brixham. Some tarmac roads to start but follow the path and you soon go up and down through some slightly more challenging terrain, through wooded areas, beside fields and along rocky grassy paths overlooking the sea, with spectacular views. We walked along as far as Coleton Fishacre (National Trust property) for a break and then walked back the road way (a lot less demanding!) Very good half day's walk. You may even be lucky and see seals or dolphins (although we didn't, sadly). Still lovely, all the same! Probably about 5-6 miles round trip but feels more because of all the up and downs!

We always try and stop by the RNLI shops to show our support, this has to be one of the best we have been to, it’s obviously got the standard shop but the visitors centre part is great, telling stories of local lifeboat rescues aswell as the cut down former lifeboat that children can play on, and the dress up corner just adds to the experience. Our two year old daughter had a great time dressing up as a lifeboat crew and loved playing in the lifeboat pretending to be the captain! A really good idea whoever thought this up. As ever the staff and volunteers where friendly and informative, and the shop was well stocked.
