10 Food & Drink in Bali That You Shouldn't Miss

October 9, 2021 Malia Yoakum

Bali is a living postcard, an Indonesian paradise that feels like a fantasy. Soak up the sun on a stretch of fine white sand, or commune with the tropical creatures as you dive along coral ridges or the colorful wreck of a WWII war ship. On shore, the lush jungle shelters stone temples and mischievous monkeys. The “artistic capital” of Ubud is the perfect place to see a cultural dance performance, take a batik or silver-smithing workshop, or invigorate your mind and body in a yoga class.

Outstanding day yesterday for us ! We were picked up by Wayan and taken on a wonderful tour of the markets and rice fields by Made before joining our host family for a heart felt authentic experience .. we were welcomed into their home and nothing was too much trouble. Trip Advisor recommended this experience and we totally agree it’s fantastic and not to be missed.

Recently attended the cooking class with my son. Very quiet in Bali as not School holidays and no Chinese tourists due to Coronavirus. It turned out to be just my son and I in the class which was perfect. We were picked up from our Villa and taken to a market which is generally not visited by the tourists and were given the opportunity to taste some fruits we hadn’t tasted before like Snake Fruit and Durian which we decided were not for us. From there we were taken back to the cooking school and cooked Beef Rendang, Mie Goreng, spring Rolls and Green Pancakes. Dewi, Koming and Arve were great teachers and the food was fantastic. A great food and cultural experience. I would recommend this to anybody who wants to experience the food and culture first hand.

My friend and I throughly enjoyed our cooking class at Janbangan Bali Cooking School. We were fortunate enough to have a private class and tour of the market, as we were the only people registered for the morning class. The entire family was welcoming and kind, taking time to answer all our many questions. It was very rewarding to consume the food we had prepared. Everything was very easy to prepare with the help from our lovely local cooking assistants. Thanks for the lovely experience. I would highly recommend others go to Jambangan Bali Cooking School too.
