Beautiful hotel...

Reviewed By Ynlvr

Beautiful hotel with less than 200 rooms. Perfect size for tranquility after enjoying the lucky DJ at the pool. Well appointed and spacious rooms with a modern appeal. GREAT shower!!! Plenty of outlets and USB ports throughout the room. Very good internet service. Excellent housekeeping staff service. Lovely pool area. Good bar staff. Great views from the rooftop and our private balcony. This is a perfect do it yourself hotel. Below standard service/hospitality elsewhere. I had low service standards after visiting for lunch in the restaurant/bar on lobby level where I waited for service before and after ordering. Ordered room service often but not available for breakfast. One evening, I was handed my uncovered room service order at the door, without utensils. Preparing for departure, I asked for a Covid test appointment. Nothing offered, not even a referral for a testing facility to come to the hotel or you to them. The response was “there is a clinic across the street.” Stepped outside and there were trees across the street. We took a taxi and went to three locations before finding one to administer the test. I had our results before returning to the hotel with no assistance from the staff. With all of the great amenities and esthetics, the service was a disappointment.

Clean & Comfy

The hotel is in a great location to explore the city and the suburbs. There are a lot of good restaurants in the neighborhood which was a great addition. The room was clean and comfortable but the bed sheets were polyester and not cotton as I expected, also the mini fridge wasn't working at all. Clearly there's room for improvement but it was a great stay.

This hotel is gorgeous, huge contemporary marble lobby, with a beautiful bar and restaurant on the entrance level. Up one level is the swimming pool, salon and breakfast facility, that is amazing! Huge gorgeous buffet every morning with smoked salmon, omelettes all types of Mexican food, fresh fruit, veggies, tuna salad, bacon, sausage, sweets… It was one of the best parts of our trip. We attended a family wedding with dozens of other people, had a fabulous time. Rooms are beautiful, the bathroom is stunning, shower unbelievable, everyone loved that! The only downside is it’s not in a great neighborhood for walking around and the beds were very hard! We were so impressed with the hotel chain we plan to have our next trip to Mexico at another Hotel RIU.

The hotel is not as other very large hotels in town, and that’s ok. It is in very good physical condition. The included breakfast buffet is good (not great). Service is great all along. Great secured surface and underground parking. The location is awesome as many of the great restaurants we went to were not more than 20 mins away. For the amount we paid we had great value. Would certainly do it again.

Super outdated messy horrible hotel! Do not stay there!

Reviewed By AlbertLosAngeles

Unfortunately, I did not enjoy my stay at the hotel at all. I booked the hotel just for 3 nights, but I was ready to leave right away.  From the outside the hotel did not look that bad, also the hotel lobby looked ok. But the room, swimming pool area, hallways, elevators… No! No! And no! Some roadside motel rooms look a lot better than my Superior Room at the Tropicana! You’re  suppose to enjoy the room and feel comfortable and relax there, but I felt like I was in some sort of a cheap basic room for an old person in a house for retired people, it also reminded me of a hospital room like in a South American country. It was awful! Plus, I got a room on the first floor, right on the hotel’s roof/balcony where people were hanging out, and everything was right next to my balcony window. I had to keep the curtains closed all the time not to be seen, and an the result it was never day light in my room which was very frustrating for me. As soon as I got to my room and saw everything that was going on, I hurried to the front desk asking them to change it, but they had no options, because the hotel was completely full (which was hard to believe, because the hotel is huge). Anyway, I had to stay in that trashy dark room. I have nothing positive to mention about it. Everything was bad. The air conditioner was super old and did not work well, it did not really blow cool air, so it was pretty warm in my room all the time. They sent a guy to fix it, but nothing was fixed. The TV was super small and super old, the picture was an awful quality. The Twin beds were super uncomfortable, very hard. Pillows were small and awful too. The closet was big, but everything was dusty inside. It was gross to put clothes there, so I had to keep everything inside of my luggage. The bathroom looked like it was a public bathroom at a hospital or a cheap fast food place. It was just gross to be there! Toilet had yellow rust streaks, plus, water pressure did not work well. Same water pressure issue was with the shower! Water barely kept going. Of course, the bathroom amenities were of an awful quality and smelled disgusting! The hairdryer was old and did not work well too. Wi-Fi was super slow! I had to buy a local SIM and use it for the Internet access, because hotel’s Wi-Fi did not really work, I could not even watch YouTube videos or upload a short 1 min video to my social media. Disaster! I also want to complain about the awful and rude front desk stuff. All the women there were so unfriendly! Also nobody could really speak English. How is it possible?! I had to use Google Translator to be able to communicate with them. The only one sweet and nice lady was near the swimming pool who was giving beach towels. She always smiled and tried to talk to me, asked how my day was. Also she always gave me an extra towel (they usually give only 1 towel per person), which I really appreciated. Moreover, I would like to mention the security guys who were annoying every single day asking me for my room number and last name at night time to let me go through. Annoying! Oh, I also hated that they did not want to check me out until I return a remote control and air conditioner control to the front desk. So I had to walk back to my room, grab this stuff and bring it back to the front desk, which delayed my Uber ride who was waiting for me for 6 extra minutes and of course I had to pay some waiting Fee. One more thing, during check-out they asked me to pay some additional fee (I was not sure what fee was that), and to finally get out and be done with all the mess I just paid it. Luckily it was just $15. But it was a very scammy fee, because there was nothing about extra fees in my reservation from Hotels.com, plus, nobody told me about any additional fee when I was checking in. I absolutely do NOT recommend TO STAY at this horrible hotel, because it has absolutely nothing to do with a nice vacation experience. It’s only plus is the location right next to the beach. But do you really want to stay in a Sh^thole to be right in front of the water? Please, think well and better do not repeat my awful experience! Better pick up a hotel a few blocks away from the beach, but stay in a nice place. Puerto Vallarta (Zona Romantica) has a lot of great and cheap hotels. By the way, it was one of the worst hotels (TOP-5 for sure) I have ever stayed!
