Bagan (Burmese: ပုဂံ; MLCTS: pu.gam, IPA: [bəɡàɴ]; formerly Pagan) is an ancient city located in the Mandalay Region of Myanmar. From the 9th to 13th centuries, the city was the capital of the Pagan Kingdom, the first kingdom that unified the regions that would later constitute modern Myanmar. During the kingdom's height between the 11th and 13th centuries, over 10,000 Buddhist temples, pagodas and monasteries were constructed in the Bagan plains alone, of which the remains of over 2,200 temples and pagodas still survive to the present day.

And we had a lot of fun with Nai during the day. His English is also very professional. You should also book such a tour.

This trip was outstanding. My guide, Ms San San Shwe was a font of knowledge, carefully planned the day to correspond with the heat and was happy to oblige with a side trip to ‘The Lady’s House’ to satisfy a bit of hero worship on my part. The circular railway was a great deal of fun also, but it was Ms Shwe’s knowledge, bubbly enthusiasm and obvious love of her country that won me over. If this is your first time in Myanmar, this is a must do tour. I was sooooo impressed.

Famously once known as a home of four million pagodas, this magnificent old town was ruled by famous Kings back in 2000 years. The town is located on the eastern bank of Ayeyawaddy River, and about 688km distance from Yangon. Bagan had been an important city since King Pyinpya in 8th century, although the city has become the capital of First Myanmar Empire established by King Anawrahta in mid 11th century. Ultimately, the introduction of Theravada Buddhism to the region is the signature of this ancient capital. For the next few centuries, Bagan enjoyed its golden glorious days with some of the grandest and impressive temples and pagodas of Myanmar History.
