10 Cultural Tours in Ravello That You Shouldn't Miss

August 17, 2021 Viva Honore

Three miles of twisty mountain roads up from Amalfi, the gorgeous resort of Ravello has been attracting celebrities for centuries, including Richard Wagner, Greta Garbo, Gore Vidal and D.H. Lawrence, who wrote Lady Chatterley’s Lover here. Ravello’s Duomo (Cathedral) and Villa Cimbrone (both 11th century) and Villa Rufolo (13th century) are all magnificent sights. The annual summer Ravello Festival began as a salute to Wagner’s music, but now showcases a wide range of music and arts.

Beyond knowing his material well, Fabrizio is very engaging and shows great skill in communication and presentation. He is definitely my first choice for guiding within the Campania region.

My husband, teenaged daughter, and I took the shared day trip to Carpi from Sorrento. The price was very reasonable and the other passengers were extermely nice. We were pickuped in a old van with no air conditioning and windows that wouldn't roll down. We stopped to pickup others, but fortunately the drive was only a little ways until we reached the port. There was some confusion about payment but off we went. After that biref negative experience, the rest of the day was amazing. Our captain and crew were very accomodating and friendly. We felt safe on our way to Capri. We stopped to snorkel after circling the island. We had fun even though the Blue Grotto was closed due to high tide. Then we had the day to spend on Capri to explore. So much to see and do, but we had just enough time until it was time to meet back at the boat for our return trip. Definitely take this day trip to Capri!

Picked up on time from our hotel. The boat was nice and not too many people on it. Drinks provided throughout the trip and a sandwich, although we chose to eat in Amalfi. The tour assistant was friendly and spoke perfect English. Great way to see the different parts of the Sorrento/Amalfi coast in one day. Good amount of time spent in each location too!

Good full day to Pompeii and Vesuvius which I really enjoyed. The guides were Hugo and Julie (I think) and both were very friendly and helpful. The tour of Pompeii was very detailed and longer than I expected (or wanted to be quite honest, especially in the heat that day) but I’m sure this will delight others with a very real interest in the history more than myself perhaps! In short, if you want a one day visit to both sights, I’d definitely recommend. Thanks.
