November 5, 2021 Roger Rusk

Mongolia /mɒŋˈɡoʊliə/ ( listen) (Monggol Ulus in Mongolian; Монгол Улс in Mongolian Cyrillic) is a landlocked unitary sovereign state in East Asia. Its area is roughly equivalent with the historical territory of Outer Mongolia, and that term is sometimes used to refer to the current state. It is sandwiched between China to the south and Russia to the north. Mongolia does not share a border with Kazakhstan, although only 37 kilometres (23 mi) separates them.

We did a day tour yesterday and it was fantastic! We visited Terelj National Park, turtle rock, a monastery with chanting monks, went to a great lookout over the city, the Ghengus Khan Statue and museum and has a tasty lunch with a nomadic family in their ger, complete with an ox drawn carriage ride across the snow. It was a really cold day and snowing in the morning, but the minivan was warm inside and the driver was very good and safe. Our guide was very friendly, knowledgeable and had perfect english. Everything went to plan and our 12 and 14 year old children really enjoyed the day as much as we did! We would highly recommend this day tour.

Although a lot of people think of a desert as a lot of sand, the Mongolian Gobi Desert has a lot of vegetation, along with vast steppes, and it’s home to a lot of camel herders. Because of its huge size and its sparse inhabitation, it offers a lot of tranquility and evokes mysteries to the people who visit it. During our trip, we will show you the best components of this immense legendary desert. We will go to places such as Vulture Gorge, also known as Eagle Valley, and the Khongor sand dunes. We also will show you Bayanzag, where dinosaurs once called home.

Bachi was fast to collect money. December 2019, I made a full payment for the Mongolia tour in May 2020. Under the agreement, I can have 100% refund when I cancelled before April 2020. Due to Covid, I need to cancel the tour in March and asked for refund. After numerous emails and empty promises from Bachi, 9 months have passed and U never get my money back. In addition, he is now uncontactable. While I understand that tourism could be worst hit by Covid. The least he could do is to reply me - and if he gives a date - to honour it.

Dauren was great in the planning of our 4 day trip and always replied swiftly to any questions I had. He took us for a very nice lunch in Ulgii, visited the museum, before heading to Sahsai where we were staying the night with the Eagle hunter’s family. They made us feel so welcome and provided us with snacks and milky tea. Then we drove to see the stone man monument nearby and had delicious homemade buuz for dinner. The next morning we left for Lake Tolboo. Our camp was right next to the lake and had a beautiful view. After a quick swim and a walk, Dauren made us some delicious shish kebabs. On the way back to Ulgii, we stopped at a ger and got to try fermented horse milk (airag) and watch the milking of the mares. This was a memorable experience for myself and my friend. Again, the nomadic family were so hospitable even though it wasn’t part of the trip and they hadn’t been expecting us. Then we had some free time in Ulgii for shopping and lunch, before Dauren collected us from our hotel to go and see Friendship Hill overlooking the whole town. We then went to a lovely Turkish restaurant for dinner. Dauren took care of everything and we were well looked after from start to end. He even made us breakfast before our flight back to UB. I will definitely be using Discover Altai for any other trips in Mongolia and highly recommend him. Thanks for showing us around your beautiful province, I look forward to returning one day.

I was traveling to Altai Tavan Bogd with my mother. Before we joined the tour, Dosjan gave us good recommendation on choosing the tour. We were picked up by our tour guide Nurga and driver Arda in the airport. Then we met Dosjan for a brief description on the tour as he made some adjustment becoz of the weather. The scenery is so beautiful. we had a great time with the super nice crew. The chef cooked very well. My mother was a bit sick during the trip. The crew took care of us very well. Kazakh families we visited are all very nice and welcoming! The trip was so amazing! I would definitely recommend Kazakh tour if u travel to olgii!

Having just returned from our Golden Eagle Festival tour 2019 we can't recommend Kazakh Travel and Dosjan high enough. Every need was attended to for this amazing tour to a remote region of the world. Our eagle hunting day with the 5 hunters was THE highlight as we scrambled up rocky hillsides either on foot or in the SUV watching the hunters & eagles get their prey ( 2 foxes were captured). The festival was a delight, a must see. Kazakh Travel is so reasonably priced and did even more than the US based tour companies for much less money. We stayed in the nicest hotels in Ulanbataar & Ulgii. Go local-Go Kazakh Travel. Highly recommend Kazakh!

One night for example was really cold so they spontanipusly organized a warmer place for the next day. A lot was organized according to the situation which gave maximum flexibility. We visited places which are not usually on the tourists list as for example a coal mine. We spent the Lunar New Year with a local family. It was a truly incredible experience. We loved how gracious and welcoming our hosts were and are very appreciative that they included us in their traditions and celebration. We were really looking forward to this trip it and was the corner stone of our trip to Mongolia. It did not disappoint. Our guide, Ebo was amazing. He was funny and knowledgable. I really enjoyed the stories he shared of his experiences and life in Mongolia. He went above and beyond to help us when things were not going smoothly or expected. Oyuna, our trip coordinator was super knowledgable and provided great advice when planning our trip. Her communication when we had to rebook some trains and flights unexpectedly was great. She kept us in the loop as to what was going on an made us feel reassured that everything would be taken care of. Our driver had a impressive knowledge of the roads and directions. He was a skilled driver and made us feel safe in all conditions. We did unexpectedly have another couple join us on the trip last minute. They did confirm that we were ok with the change and refunded us some money because of it.
