As a mother with two children, this was not it. Boring, exhausting for my smallest child and none of us learned anything from here. Stay away!

With only 2 full days in Lisbon, I wanted to book a tour that would allow us to see as much as possible. The most popular tours on TripAdvisor are the walking tours, however in the 4 hours they allow to only cover one, possibly two of the most popular neighborhoods in Lisbon, I kept scrolling until page 4 of tours when I came across THIS tour from Essencia da Latitude. For 5 hours we got every part of Lisbon and in the hot temps, we were privately chauffeured around by Daniel (superb!) but then stopped often for a good view or to see the various monuments or churches that make Lisbon so special. Growing up and still living in Lisbon, Daniel was an excellent guide as he knew everything! We could tell he was very proud of his city and he loved showing us as much as possible. He was a whizz at maneuvering through the vey narrow streets of old Lisbon, but then took us far away from the old part to also include the newer parts of the city. My husband and I later said we never would have been able to cover all of that ground on our own, even if we had stayed in Lisbon longer. After doing this tour, we felt we HAD seen and learned everything there was to about Lisbon and chose to spend out last day outside of the city. I also chose this tour because it was labeled with the “clean and safe” stamp and by being in a private tour we were even more assured that our contact with others would be at a minimum. Both we and Daniel wore masks, which did NOT take away from enjoying the tour, plus Daniel always opened and closed the vehicle door FOR us, also a hygiene measure. Daniel was very proud of the fact that Lisbon is making all attempts to “go green” for a lack of a better word and stops for water included a cooler with a glass flask with water and served in paper cups. We do hope that once the Covid period allows Portugal to fully recover, they can continue this effort and gain more world recognition for it. At the end of our tour, Daniel gave us many recommendations for restaurants and sightseeing and followed up per WhatsApp to make sure we had our answers and to thank us again for allowing him to show us Lisbon. We have never had such a friendly, interesting and downright good person as a tour guide before and we HIGHLY recommend Daniel and Essencia da Latitude. In closing I would just like to say that overall, we as Swiss felt SAFER in Portugal than we do here in our own country. The Portuguese continue to take the Covid situation very seriously and sanitizing and mask wearing have become the norm there, even out in the open streets...it became second nature to us and a small price to pay for being able to stay healthy and enjoy traveling in such a beautiful country as Portugal!!!!

The cork factory was surprisingly interesting and the town of Évora was adorable. The Chapel of Bones is extra (only 5€, but worth it) and you’re on your own for lunch. We picked Tragos E Condutos and had a fabulous meal (get the black pork!). To top it all off, the winery was equally awesome and included a tour of the winery’s carriage museum. It may sound boring, but (again) it was surprisingly cool. Our guide was friendly and knowledgeable and best of all, our tour ended up being private because no one else signed up. Definitely recommend!

Andre was an amazing guide and the trail was one of a kind. Never in a million years could I have navigated it without him. We had a great conversation and the time flew by. It was a great way to get outside the city of Lisbon and explore. It is a bit challenging in parts and when the guide tells you to wear pants, trust them :)

Aveiro and Belmonte were the centers of our private tour and Diogo took us to about nine different historic sites. The hotel accommodations in Belmonte were first class and every restaurant Diogo had arranged for us seemed even better than the last. Diogo has excellent English. I am the only one of the four travelers with no Portuguese. He is a great driver and a most expert and knowledgeable tour guide.

The hotel accommodations in Belmonte were first class and every restaurant Diogo had arranged for us seemed even better than the last. Diogo has excellent English. This was one of the best tours me and my wife have ever taken during our travels around the world. Fatima and Sintra are truly two of the most wonderful places in the planet. The spirituality of Fatima and the mysticism of Sintra with its magical fairytale palaces, made the top on our favorite places in the world list. If you looking for a professional service to drive and guide you through this beautiful country, the owner of Windland Tours, Goncalo Oliveira, is your man! We hired Goncalo for four days to drive us from western Spain to Porto, Fatima, Coimba and Lisbon. Goncalo is the consummate professional (punctual, courteous,) an excellent driver, nearly fluent English and has a deep knowledge of the history and culture of the Portuguese people which he shared with us on our daily walking tours of each city. He also knows the best restaurants and interesting neighborhoods not always on the typical tourist itinerary. We can't thank Goncalo enough for making this trip one of the best vacations we have had. We hope to return in the future, and our first call will be to Goncalo to arrange the next trip!
