10 City Tours in Monaco-Ville That You Shouldn't Miss

July 26, 2021 Malia Yoakum

Monaco City (French: Monaco-Ville) is the southcentral Ward in the Principality of Monaco. Located on a headland that extends into the Mediterranean Sea, Monaco City is nicknamed The Rock (French: Le Rocher). The name "Monaco City" (French: Monaco-Ville) is misleading, Monaco City is a historical and statistical district, not a city.

we visited only one Rass winery, and in the review it was announced that we would visit 3 wineries. I do not like this. It made a bad impression on me that when we arrived at the Rass winery we were greeted with the finding that they had already closed for tourists today, but as a compromise they would take the trouble to open for us. The winery was not typical of Provence. There are also better wineries in the area, I expected more ...

We took this tour in late December. I don't remember the driver/tour guide's name (sorry) but he was easy to talk to, gave us a lot of information. We started at the winery and met the winemaker George. George spoke only French so our tour guide helped translate but towards the end we were all able to converse a little. It was very cool to see how he ages the wine in the sun. We learned about his wine making process and then tasted several of his wines plus his olives. We bought some bottles to drink back at Nice and I wish we had bought more. The winery is full of beautiful paintings done by the winemaker's brother, who also designs the labels. We then went to St Paul-de-Vence and toured the little village. Since it was Christmas time, the village was decorated and was really very pretty. I recommend this tour if you have any interest in wine (and even if you don't because you might after this tour!). We were a family with 4 young adults, only one was a teen (I had to choose a category) to submit this review.

This was a great trip. We visited 3 lovely mountain villages and sea towns of Antibes and Canne and had just the right amount of time at each. Our guide, Placido was very nice, knowledgeable and knew all the best places to pull over for photos, etc. Also had a short tour at the Fragonard factory which I found very interesting. Definitely a great tour to get a taste of Provence.

This review is long overdue. But when a friend asked me what they should do while in France I had to recommend this day trip with Yvonne. Yvonne tailor made our day so that my husband and I were able to see the things most important to us. Her knowledge of the area is truly wonderful. We were able to visit little villages, talk to the shop owners, taste incredible food and see sights we would not have explored on our own. Of course her Mercedes was very clean and comfortable. Yvonne is a warm and friendly host. The day spent with her as our guide was the highlight of our trip to France.

I researched a number of French Riviera day tours from Nice and chose this one based on how comprehensive it was and on the solid reviews. I was not disappointed. Mago kept our family of 4, including 2 teenagers, engaged the entire time with interesting information and entertaining stories. He's very good on time management, so you are able to squeeze in a great overview in one day without feeling rushed, but also very flexible if you want to add or drop something depending on your interests. He speaks excellent English and is a safe driver. We did a number of day tours throughout our 2 week stay in France and everyone in our family agreed this was our favorite.
