St Illtud's Church one of the most important parish churches in the province which is hailed as a 'Beacon Church' in the Diocese. The community of Llanilltud Fawr is centred around the religious community which was founded by Illtud, a Celtic Christian saint, about 1500 years ago. The parish of Llantwit Major includes eight other medieval churches spread out near the Heritage Coastline of the Vale of Glamorgan. These are situated in St Donats, Marcross, Monknash, Wick, Llanmaes, Llanmihangel, Gileston and St Athan. Our Church in Wales Primary School is situated in the village of Wick. We visited this charming village and church yesterday. What a delightful place this is. We were visiting our family in Cardiff for the first time in six months, and we celebrated As three generations with this visit. We were greeted very warmly by a lady who gave us the fascinating history of the church, and pointed out the stunning ancient artwork on the walls, and the breathtaking ancient Celtic crosses. We were all fascinated, even our grandchildren. A walk through the woods to the beach completed the day. We have vowed to return at a later date, and cannot recommend this place highly enough. Thank you once again for the warm welcome, Llantwit Major!

Stunning ancient church in the Vale of Glamorgan, lovely place for peaceful contemplating life during covid. A quiet little village with pub (closed) with easy access and parking, look inside for the wall paintings. Beautiful, beautiful place.
