The Saint Gertrud is the surprisingly large and impressive late gothic historic church of Workum. It was built between 1480 and 1560. The separate tower was never built to full height but completed with an onion shaped pinnacle in 1613. Pulpit and organ are also very A specific feature of this church is the collection of funeral biers (baren in Dutch) which were lavishly decorated by the various professional guilds in Workum. Very much worthwhile of a visit!
