Mahishasuramardini Cave

Reviewed By Mikan999 - Bristol, United Kingdom

The Mahishasuramardini cave is part of the Mahabalipuram complex but is easily missed because it is a little way from the other temples, however it had some of the most interesting carvings. Especially superb is the panel showing Durga fighting the buffalo-headed demon Mahisha. It is worth learning a bit about Hindu Art and Architecture before visiting. The book on this subject by George Michell is great for this. This cave temple is a must.

This place is magical and the calming effect it has on our body and mind is unique. Bhagavan Ramana Maharishi himself is still there in this cave was the feeling I received as soon as I reached. The divine experience and vibrations of the surroundings have left me spellbound cant wait to be there again.

Guna Cave

Due to fog we were not able to see the cave. Needs a lot of walking. The approach to the view point is tricky. Beware of monkeys at the ticket counter. There are pay for use toilets available at the entrance. The best and most mesmerizing thing to see the tree roots that are on the way. Felt like we have entered a location from Harry Potter movie.
