For this reason serious excavation works are taking place there. The Great Silk Road played a major role in the development of economic and cultural relations. It covered population of Asia Minor, Central Asia, the Caucasus and China. It served as a corridor for technological, cultural and religious exchange. I stayed in Astana for several days for business, and had a couple of off days, so I asked locals what to do and I was recommended to go to Borovoe. You could do a one-day trip from Astana or spend a weekend, but it was October, and most attractions are closed, and not many people at the hotels or nearby towns, so I don't see a point of staying for the weekend. You could go by joining a tour (what I found on the internet cost like $250 with everything included), or hiring a car (which is what I did, asking a local friend to find somebody. I paid like $150 for the whole day), or taking a train (I heard it's not the best option if you are time constrained, as you have to go to the station, and the train is slow, and you need to find means of transportation from the nearby station). With a car, it took 2.5 hours to get there. I left at 8:30, arrived there at 11:00, stayed there till 5:30, and came back at 8:00. It was a great one-day trip. Even if it was already off-season, the view from the top of a mountain was breathtaking, and we could rent a boat and get to the rock in the middle of the lake, and we also went to a historical site where Khan was chosen (you could buy souvenirs from one of many shops there or take picture with an eagle there). It is called Kazakh's Switzerland. It's not really Switzerland, but Astana is surrounded by steppe, and this is the closest place from Asta where you can enjoy nature. If you go in summer, there are a lot of activities available (boat, swimming, climbing various mountains, checking out restaurants at the village and the hotels), so you can definitely stay for a weekend. I think the best way to describe the place is to see pictures. I post some.

I’ll start off with my rocky start with a taxi driver scamming me even with knowing how much the average cost of a ride from the airport to my apartment would’ve been by using Yandex.Taxi and inDriver (the latter let’s you test before using) so what should’ve been a 500 Tenge ride on average at that time of night soon turned into 30,000 tenge. I said fine only because the taxi driver had said 5000 tenge and after flying for two days straight (time zones included) I just wanted to sleep in my apartment. However the taxi had someone follow us to make sure I paid more. However after my first few nights of talking to the locals and sight seeing I met one of Zhanel’s friends who introduced me to her. From the start she was very helpful and even helped me with the police about the taxi driver, I eventually got my money back due to Zhanel helping me. Zhanel has been very helpful and informative of the region and knows her stuff and history of the area. I had told her about wanting to visit Alzhir and she offered to take me there and give a history on the memorial. If you wish to have professional service, helpful and courteous people, but even people who you will for sure become friends with. I will definitely recommend coming back to Kazakhstan in general, but also to use this service ))

Hard to find words describing how beautiful are these places: Charyn Canyon “Valley of the Castles”, and Moon (Yellow) Canyon. I went there during winter with a very professional guide from KazGuideTour, and everything was absolutely perfect: no crowd, no heat, beautiful sun, nice layer of snow on the rock, and wonderful undisturbed wildlife!

This tour was great! Chingiz and Askhat arranged for to take our whole family (6 adults and 2 kids) up to big Almaty Lake and to the falcon show. We also stopped for lunch on the trip up to the Lake. The location they selected was fantastic! Great food and wonderful conversation. Both our tour guides were very knowledgeable and helpful throughout the trip. The falcon show was wonderful and Chingiz made sure we all sat in the best spot in the bleachers, The grandkids loved the falcon show. Chingiz also took us on a tour of the falcon show facilities so we were able to see the birds and Kazakh dogs up close. We highly recommend Explore Kazakhstan!

I just want to say thank you to ACT for organizing an interesting, comfortable, convenience day trip for me to Burabai, hosted by the brilliant Genghis and our excellent driver Serge. I had one day to go sightseeing outside of Nur-Sultan and this package perfectly aligned with my schedule. Genghis was warm and friendly from the moment he picked me up at our meeting point. Serge whisked us away in a very comfortable and clean car to Burabai. I learned so much during my conversation with Genghis, got to see the awesome natural beauty of the magical green Burabai forest in the middle of the steppe, and made it home in time for a delicious dinner at a restaurant recommended by Genghis and Serge. It was rainy day and it could not be better day for sightseeing Nur Sultan. We had great guid, she explained us everything. And one day was enough to learn most important facts about Nur Sultan. Even weather conditions were terrible our driver was awesome! For sure if I come back in Kazahstan I will arrange tour with ACT. Thank You for everything!

The canyon located in the the territory of the Charyn national park along the Charyn river.
