Fairfield Moravian Settlement

If it wasn't for the cars, you could easily believe you were back in the 1700s! I discovered the settlement when I was a teenager and decades later I'm still fascinated by it. The architecture is stunning and the church is a 'must visit', as it's absolutely beautiful. It must have been hard to maintain those buildings, so many thanks to those committed individuals who possessed the will to do it.

Omg went here today for my first visit and my first ever massage. The centre was very covid safe and the reception staff were very friendly and welcoming. I was treated by michelle for an hour and a half massage which was excellent, she put me at ease and explained what she was going to do and why. She found all my tension knots and knew exactly how to help ease my pain. I fell asleep at some point throughtout the treatment. It was excellent and i will be visiting again soon.

My friends and I here in America played the virtual version of The Exorcist room and were completely impressed. Highly recommend! Gameplay went as smoothly as butter. Players have a host and a cameraman to guide them through the puzzles. Unlike your standard IRL rooms where the hosts are part-timers who mostly work behind the scenes, these guys are clearly immaculate professionals with a performance background. After our session, we talked about how James' experience as a magician helped him create the special effects. He even took a demonology course so he could sound more knowledgeable when answering player questions. Apparently, the actual Crowley manor is located nearby the escape room, which explains the ER's attention to historical detail. Now, I will say that my friend group are savvy escape room enthusiasts and we only got out with 17 sec to spare. The puzzles aren't particularly hard, but finding the clues and talking with the host slows things down (not in a bad way, though!). This just means newbie escapers might not win the game, although I think they'll still enjoy it immensely. And maybe I'm wrong. The host was a total pro and it's possible he'd provide more hints to newbies that would help push things along faster.

Portland Basin Museum

Portland Basin Museum is housed within the restored nineteenth century Ashton Canal Warehouse in Ashton-under-Lyne. The museum combines a lively modern interior with a peaceful canal side setting. It is an exciting family friendly museum, with something for all the family.

Reviewed By georgetF4032FZ

A huge former canal warehouse at the junction of the Ashton, Peak Forest and Huddersfield Canals, with the two lower floors used as a Museum, with accommodation above (I think). A replica street scene, with reconstructed houses, a pub, schoolroom, chapel and shops, plus tableaux on mining, the canals, local transport, hatting and gloving, and other local industries. Access to the canal side, with open air seating to complement the very pleasant tea room and a chance to watch boats passing by. Plus a good souvenir shop and helpful and friendly staff.

Visited today with my children. It was very busy but we managed to get a table and the children had a great time. The place is immaculately clean and the staff were very friendly and helpful. I arrived and had no cash (warning - no card machine!) but I was allowed to bring the children in, then dash to the atm whilst my friend watched them. Would definitely recommend.

The Witchwood

I've been going here for years to see tribute artists, we usually pick someone we want to see, so we may go 3 or 4 times a year. Once in a blue moon the artist isn't that good but most of the time they're excellent. It's a small venue, I've got to admit the mens toilets are surprisingly clean, something you often don't get.

Stamford Park

Reviewed By Z9899GIsamanthaw

My husband and I took my friend's 3yr old last week and we all had a great time. The park is clean and tidy, children's play area has plenty of things to go on. The cafe is a nice place to relax. Ice cream van near the play area was good. Swans on the lake at this time of year was nice to see. Will definitely visit again, maybe when it's a bit warmer!!
