A must see!!! If you step foot on the island of St Kitts please do yourself a favor and make every attempt to make sure you visit this wonderful site. I rented a vehicle and I had a mini panic attack driving up and down the fortress driveways. Please take a cab. They do this trip every single day and are used to the hairpin turns and narrow alley ways that can freak you out very quickly if you are the driver so just sit back relax and look out the window. The admission fee is $10 per person cash only. We went on an early Sunday morning and had the entire place to ourselves which was awesome. There is a quick 10 minute introductory historical video to watch adjacent to the gift shop. The steep steps up to the left bring you to the most strikingly beautiful views of Saint kits and the islands of Saba and St Eustacius. There are probably 40 cannons to look at take pictures of and admire the beautiful scenery. The historic bell is also located on the top of the tiled roof. If you go below to the main open gallery Archway there is a different room to learn about every piece of history along your journey through end it is fascinating information. Once you take the steep steps back down there is beautiful views overlooking a vast field with gorgeous mountainous views as well as the adjacent ocean with ruin type stone arches. I highly recommend going early in the morning before it gets too hot and the crowds begin to develop. Bring plenty of water and wear proper foot gear. They were also absolutely gorgeous hibiscus flowers everywhere to admire.

We read all of the reviews about how this was a strenuous hike and thought, "We are active and fit people, we can do it!" Well let me tell you, the hike is a beast! Super fun and beautiful though. It was quite a sense of accomplishment when you are sitting at the top looking down at the crater. We had a great tour guide in Hilton from Poinciana Tours. He made it fun and manageable. There were many spots that were tough to navigate and super challenging. You literally are holding yourself up by ropes at some points and scrambling up slippery rocks and tree roots. Several times on the way down we just slid on our bottoms because it was too slick to walk. Don't wear good clothes because you will be dirty when you finish. My fitbit said I hiked over 11 miles in 5 hours so it's a great workout! I would highly recommend this tour to anyone who wants a unique adventure but is fit enough and agile enough to handle it.

We were on a cruise and stopped for the day. We had to take a taxi, but you give them a time and they will come back and pick you up.. The beach was nice and the water very warm. Two chairs and an umbrella costs $20 U.S. There is a restaurant and food nearby. It was also known as the Carambola Beach Club.

I am a 68 year old not so fit grandmother and I did it! The first part, about a third, is on gentle but steep paths through the the forest. Then there is a river gully and ropes and rocks and tree roots. A warning of things to come. I was scared. The next section is all woodland steep pathways with the tree roots providing foot and handholds. The ropes start to become more frequent as the pathways gets steeper. My son lives on Nevis and is a horticulturist so I got some brilliant stuff on species, habitat and special plant characteristics as a bonus. Later I wasn’t listening as I was either so tired or so scared or both. This stretch was muddy and steep. On the last third the gradient really jacked up and instead of tree roots it was mostly rocks and boulders. Nearly all the very steep parts had ropes to help the climb. There were quite a few 15 to 20 foot near verticals. Footholds in most places but the soil was clay and wet so slippy. I did the climb in running shoes as it’s all I had with me and I didn’t have gloves. It was fine and the running shoes gave flexibility. I swallowed my pride and just kept asking my son for stops. Take lots of water and energy food. My Fitbit showed 3000 plus calories. My son was great and kind and didn’t complain about the stops once. It’s me and my stubborn pride and competitiveness that’s the problem not him! Anyway just when i thought it was never going to end. It did. The summit is small. The footprint of my spare bedroom. It was cloudy so no view. There is a box there as others have described but the book inside was wet and spoiled. Note for someone to get a replacement? I’m not doing this again. Don’t want to push my luck. There is a second summit, the higher one with the trig point. My son went off and did that and it took him 40 mins. He said it was overgrown and therefore a bit dangerous as the drops on the edge of the path weren’t visible. I think the journey back down was worse than the way up in many ways. My legs were tired which makes it dangerous and we took a different turn low down so had a hike to the car along the road. Well he did. I sat at Poor Mans Bar and had a cold Guinness!

I am so happy that we went to visit RomneyManor and the Carrabelle batik factory and store. It was truly a beautiful walk through the rain forest up to the grounds that are perfectly manicured and such magnificent flowers and trees to admire. There are endless photo opportunities here to enjoy. There is a fountain and an overlook to the rainforest and a bell tower to climb and a 400-year-old Saman with flowers everywhere. In addition to the gorgeous landscaping there are recently handcrafted batik pieces free flowing in the wind to dry and admire. I was so taken aback and fell instantly in love with one piece in particular that I went in to buy it right off of the clothesline. I asked to meet the artist and take her photo holding my new treasure. We also met the owner/groundskeeper who took us on a mini private tour of some of the specific plants, trees and flowers that were growing nearby with a very informative exclamation for each. I highly recommend visiting this gem while on Saint Kitts

Was I in Hawaii? That's the feeling I got when I was walking on this lovely long stretch of beach with Mount Nevis on one side with foreground covered by all the coconut trees at Four Seasons and Caribbean sea as foreground to the beautiful long stretch of hills and mountains of St. Kitts. The water is crystal clear with gemstone blue shades. Fortunately Four Seasons and its buildings didn't ruin the natural feel of the surroundings. In fact they blended well and added to enhance the beautiful views of Nevis. The beach feels deep drop off at places but there are plenty of sections that feel very safe for a long soak while taking in the views of Nevis.

We visited these gardens and absolutely loved walking around looking at all of the native plant life cultivated in this space. It was especially cool to see the fruit and spice trees! After walking through the gardens— ending in the terrace and conservatory with a parrot surprise— we had a delicious lunch of green curry and pineapple fried rice in the Thai restaurant. Really yummy and a great mix of Thai and Caribbean flavors! Overall we had a great time and I’d definitely recommend this for a visit. I would say the gardens take about an hour, could be longer if you sit in one of the inviting benches around the property.
