We booked a last minute double scuba dive for Sunday morning and Buceo were very accommodating and helpful. The dive instructors were amazing and very knowledgeable - we completed our PADI level 1 last year and hadn't dived since, so the instructors gave us a refresh, helped set up all the equipment and were great throughout both dives. There are a number of different diving sites based on your experience from shallow to deep dives 30+ metre dives. We did two dives with a max 12 metres which were great - we saw lots of sealife and the waters had good visibility. The dive sites we went to were in Caboneras which was a very short drive from the diving centre. Once there we got a short 5 min boat ride to the dive sites - which was very quick and efficient to get to. We had 3 dive instructors to 4 divers and they were all great. Very friendly, very experienced and know each site very well. Was a great morning and would highly recommend :). *One tip you will need to show your travel insurance document that shows you are covered for scuba diving - this is standard in all travel insurance in the policy cover (usually up to 30m with an instructor) so have it handy before hand! It's a law in Spain that you need to show it!

The house got its name from one of its dwellers, a person well known by all of the town, whose occupation, among other things, was selling tobacco and various goods of everyday needs. Visitors of this old house of Mojácar get a chance of making a connection with the epoch of the first half of XX century and learn about history and culture of this remarkable town. 200 square metres of exposition, the house is more than 100 years old decorated with real things of the first half of the 20-th century. We stumbled across this house museum and for a modest entry fee of 2.50 Euro you get a tour of this old Mojácar house completely restored with loads of antique relics hundreds of years old from the different centuries and inhabitants of the region from the moors, to today. The owners give a personal tour and great history talk of the history of the region, the village and details on the items on display. Well worth a visit if you’re in the village.

For some reason we decided to walk to the Torre del Pirulico from our hotel in the hottest part of the day in early August. With the temperature approaching 42 degrees C, we walked out of our hotel (Beat Pueblo Indalo) and down the sea front path all the way to the end where you then have to cut through the car park. In the far corner you will find your way onto the coast path that leads up through the cliffs with some lovely views, some parts are steep so if your a little unsteady on your feet I would avoid this route and take a car instead. Along the path there are lots of little bathing spots (used mostly by the Spanish) and some heritage signs that provide some interesting snippets of information. It’s worth mentioning at this point we had our two year old in a buggy and managed to easily push through until the other side when the path went sandy for a few 100 yards. The path then opened out onto Playa Castillo, a nice basic beach but had no shade at any point. We were hot by this point and was worried we had little water left, no obvious shops were this side until we spotted a shack at the far end of the car park. This turned out to be Chiringuito Macenas, a lovely place to stop and have a nice cold drink and a meal (the swordfish is recommended). The path continues up past the building and along a king dirt track path, locals drive through here and it can be a little tight on the cliff edge so stay safe. The track leads directly to the Torre del Pirulico, we left the buggy at the bottom of the steps and walked up to the foot of the tower. A large steel staircase leads up into the heart of the tower giving some great views, my wife struggles with walking over raised platforms but managed it with a little encouragement. Inside it’s a little cool and to one side a small opening that leads through to a narrow stair case. You can stand at the very top and enjoy some lovely views. It’s a good photo opportunity so well worth the trip. As I mentioned earlier in this review you can drive here, but I don’t think you get the same feel for the surroundings. It was then time to enjoy the long walk back.

Stunning church inside and out. Don’t plan a day around it, if your passing it’s worth popping in if your in Mojacar Pueblo. You will only spend 5 minutes in it. To find it from the main plaza, it’s your 3 rd right, go past the tobacco shop and you will find it on your left hand side just up the hill.
