10 Bed and Breakfast Inns in Yorkshire Dales National Park: Best hotel deals for 2023

April 24, 2023 Claudia Navarrete

One visit to the Yorkshire Dales and it’s easy to understand why the unspoiled countryside is the setting of so many novels. Must-see sights among the land’s lush woodlands and expansive moors include Hardraw Force (the longest single-drop waterfall in the North), Gordale Scar, and well-known hill range, the Three Peaks. Less adventurous visitors can rest easy, walking through the manicured lawns of Parcevall Hall Gardens or appreciating Skipton Castle’s medieval architecture. Although some prefer to take in the land’s wild beauty by foot or horse, the most popular way is via one of the park’s famed cycling routes.

The Punch Bowl Inn

17th-century inn, located in Low Row, Swaledale. Ideal base for walking and touring the northern dales. The coast to coast walk is on our doorstep. Re-opened in 2006, we offer 11 comfortable en-suite bedrooms. Stripped pine furnish the bar and restaurant. Our mirror menu changes daily reflecting the seasonal local produce from dales suppliers. A relaxed and informal environment in which to enjoy good food served along with local beers such as Black Sheep and Theakstons.

Everything good pub food should be and more.

The Punch Bowl punches above its weight. We dined as a group of five and had a variety of items from the limited menu. We are great fans of limited menus as experience has taught us 'less is more' And we were not disappointed. The food was tasty and the portions were generous. We had one small quibble in which a duck breast was not rendered until crisp but that is a small technical error and did not detract from the overall quality. Clean and tidy dining area, attentive but not intrusive service and great beer. Thanks to all of the staff who make it work.

The Wheatsheaf Inn

The Wheatsheaf is steeped in history stretching as far back as the 17th century. This Coaching Inn was extended in the 1800s to include a Blacksmiths shop and stables, now being utilized as the dining room. There is a large beer garden to rear and food is served every day. Black sheep is our main beer on the bar but we do have other guest ones for you to try.

Stopped off for a bite to eat. Had scampi and chips. Nothing special - typical pub food (frozen chips). Very nice pub though and friendly staff. Good selection of drinks. Chose Birra Moretti - nice and cold and in a nice glass. Lovely location.

Lovely accommodation in village centre

Stayed for 2 nights recently. Very nice property situated in the centre of Grassington. Bedrooms well decorated, clean and tidy. Excellent cooked breakfast in the morning. Plenty of car parking space to the rear of property. A slight criticism. Disappointed that our room was not serviced in between our 2 night stay. I really don't think we can carry on using the Covid excuse. I appreciate if a guest doesn't want it doing, then fair enough. Apart from that, a lovely place to stay and would definitely recommend

Tan Hill Inn

Tan hill inn is the UKs Highest Inn , standing 1732ft ASL, in an extremely isolated windy spot, where the fire inside welcomes the guest that visit us. We have a barn for hire for weddings, parties, and rally's The Inn is truly unique standing in complete splendid isolation and completely off grid. We generate our own electricity, pump and clean water from our own well. This makes things a touch more difficult to do what many would regard as the most simple job. The world Famous Tan Hill inn is no ordinary pub! We serve breakfast from 08.30 am and brunch from 10.30 am. Full kitchen service starts at 12.00 noon and runs to 20.30 pm. Disappointed

Came in for food, not even busy and was told we could not order as the chef was to busy. The pub was not even that busy. That would have been bad enough however not 2 minutes later taking orders from people who have just walked in. Went else where, least we were made to feel welcome
