April 27, 2023 Enedina Augsburger

In Turin, the capital of the Piedmont region of northwest Italy, sports cars and chocolate are a matter of pride. The city is also home to the Museo Egizio, one of the most impressive collections of Egyptian artifacts in the world. A stroll around Piazza Castello and along the Via Roma encompasses many of the must-see sights. Valentino Park houses an 18th-century castle, botanic garden and medieval village. When you've worked up an appetite, sample casual trattorias for pastas, regional wines and coffees.

Luxury on a Budget

Stayed here for two nights on a pass over to the west coast. If only I had booked it for longer… wow !! Tom and his team at Tomato Backpackers go up and beyond to ensure your stay is everything you can imagine and more ! First entering the hostel, there is an instant wow factor, very bright and extremely clean. Tom, I believe who checked me in, showed me everything I needed to know. How to enter the front door, dorm room etc. He also gave me a map of Turin and happily suggested to me areas to check out. The dorm room was more than I had hoped for, incredible clean and smart use of space for room with an en suite. The beds were very well structured not like some that creak when you move about in, so no fear getting up in midst of the night or early morning to leave. I had a window view of the street, with shutters to allow brightness in or complete darkness. Not to mention the AC that was very very handy even for May… well that is a must when you come from Ireland ! The bed was really comfortable and I slept great both nights.. not to mention my mid day unexpected nap ! * Despite the street view room it was very well insulated to ensure it was as quite as possible at night. The underground/ bunker floor holds a perfect sized kitchen with all the amenities you need + more. They also have a washer / dryer which only costs 5€ for both. An iron / iron board. Computer and guitar ! Yeah just wait, there more.. a table tennis table, library and foosball table. Not to mention all the incredible vintage cameras/ camcorders computers and other interesting equipment. The place is full of colour and bright images, if you like art or have an appreciation for graphics there is lots of different blue prints / 3d modelling posters of Tomato Backpackers around the walls !! Get to the main floor, there is a bag luggage facility ( free of charge ), a cafe where you can buy breakfast + coffee etc and a great wide area of sitting both inside and out… preferably outside for me as it was really cool art work on the wall and just a very chilled out place. There is also a water filter for cool cool water as well as sparkling if you like that ! The location is perfect, in the heart of the city. About 20-25mins from the main tourist attractions while 5mins from the park and river front. The team were all so nice and recommended me good places to get 35mm film which.. I did not get in the end due to mid day naps :( but the team knows all the best spots in town. Alessia, recommended this super good pizza / pasta spot just 5mins from the hostel. Having been in Italy 2 weeks now, best pizza in town without doubt ! It’s called ‘ Cammafà Ristorante Torino ‘ very reasonable prices and menu. Thank you again ! I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for some luxury at a budget price, but be warned it booked out very quickly !! Look forward to my return, till then. Thank you for everything :) Mark

Excellent B&B

Reviewed By CloseToTheGround

We have two priorities when looking for accommodation: a very large, well-appointed room and a well-recommended host. The information and photos on the Torino Chic website, as well as the many positive reviews on TripAdvisor, led us to book the Grace Room at Torino Chic. And this proved to be a good decision: the Grace Room was lovely and a good size, and a big plus as far as we were concerned was the large common sitting area as shown on the website. This was a lovely place to sit and read, use your device or relax over a glass of wine. And Cesi is an absolute delight with a great sense of humour. She obviously loves running her B&B, taking great pride in it—and rightly so. When we first arrived, she spent a great deal of time explaining the various points of interest and answering our questions. And during our stay she recommended places to eat, made dinner reservations and even made a couple of calls about transit routes. She provides a generous breakfast (juice, fresh fruits, yogurt, cheese, breads, homemade jams and salumi) in addition to her delicious homemade cakes every day. The location was excellent with trams nearby for accessing Porta Nuova, the Egizio, the Cinema Museum, etc. The magnificent Sanctuario della Consolata is almost across the street, the expansive Mercato Centrale is a short walk away and the Quadrilatero is nearby. We were very impressed with both the Egizio and the Cinema Museum, spending a good four hours in each. We enjoyed our six nights in Torino very much and highly recommend Torino Chic.

The B&B is conveniently located, next to a metro station and bus stops. Emanuele, the owner, is very kind. The room is comfortable although sound isolation could be improved. We would come back though as the building is very charming.

The place to stay when visiting Torino!

We spent four fabulous nights at Colazione da Augusta. Roberta and Enrico were perfect hosts, from the warm welcome to friendly conversation we felt like family. They are conveniently located to all the major sites to see in Torino. Besides the fabulous restaurants in the central district we found many just a few blocks from their home. Not enough can be said about the fabulous breakfast each morning. Enrico prepares everything from scratch, all the homemade dishes were fabulous and beautifully presented each morning by Roberta. The rooms were spacious and very clean. We will certainly stay here again on a future visit to Torino!

Friendly hotel in a great location

Booked this hotel following a recommendation from 'The Man in Seat 61' website for train travellers. It is situated opposite the Porta Susa station so could not have been more convenient. Also it is easy to reach the centre of the city on foot, walking through arcaded avenues. If you want to visit the National automobile museum just walk over to the station and take the metro to Lingotto. Plenty of places to eat in the area. Our favourites were Andrea's pizza and the nearby gelataria. Friendly helpful staff.

Central and full of smiles

If you have already read the reviews here you will see plenty of mentions of the owner Cristina. She is the happiest most helpful person in the whole of Turin I think. The B&B is in a fabulous central location in Turin close to bars and restaurants and with a public parking 20 metres away if you come by car. My room was nice and large with room to spread out luggage and a comfy sofa. Cristina brings a breakfast made with love to your room and will give you plenty of advice on things to do and see.

Value and charm in Turin

Stayed for a couple of nights whilst in Turin, was welcomed by the lovely host, who made us feel right at home immediately. The room was had everything we needed, including an espresso machine and new espresso pods provided daily. A good breakfast of fresh croissants delivered by the host was a great way to start the day. For £60 a night, you couldn't have asked for anything more.
