Casa Luz has a spectacular view of the Paraty Bay and private access to a small beach of calm waters with fresh water streaming down from the mountain. All our suites have air-conditioning and an ocean view. In some bedrooms it´s possible to see the ocean from the balcony and in others from inside the room. We offer exclusivity, comfort and coziness in a beach front house. Our target public are people that feel like getting away of the busy day-to-day life of big cities and want to experience moments of connection with themselves and their travel partners. In line with this, we do not have TV sets in the living room and in almost all rooms, with the exception of the Ruby and Orange Suite, and we prefer to receive children over 12 years old only. All common areas face the sea, which is 50 m away from the property. During our generous breakfast served at the table, our clients enjoy the beautiful view. having juices, fruits of the season and a variety of freshly baked homemade cakes and breads. Casa Luz is 1 km away from Praia Grande, a charming fishermen village; 11 km from the historic center of Paraty, the bus station and the airport and a few minutes away from beautiful waterfalls. It´s possible to leave on boat trips directly from the property. Our kitchen is open from 11:30 am to 10 pm. Within these hours we serve delicious snacks, juices and drinks. If you let us know in advance, we can offer lunch or dinner prioritizing simplicity and using fresh fish, sea food and ingredients of the season. You can enjoy our kayak or stand up paddle in the calm ocean waters in front of the house or go a little further and explore nearby practically deserted islands. You can also close your day with a relaxing massage with some of the best professionals in the region in our therapy room with sea front.

The breakfast is a brunch, with the exquisite company of hummingbirds and other birds since food is placed at central points of the terrace for them. Do not hurry and enjoy this experience. The personnel is great, they really know the meaning of the phrase - what can I do for helping your stay to be wonderful?

There is a van that takes guests to some beaches. breakfast changes the menu a little, but everything is very tasty and beautifully presented.. but it is not a place accessible to people with mobility difficulties

Wonderful gardens and surroundings.
Reviewed By Martyn AThe hotel is located in the Finnish Colony of Penedo and is a 10-15 minute walk from the centre. The real pluses here are the lovely gardens in which there is a pool and a small sauna with jacuzzi. You see plenty of tropical birds flying around into the trees and the surrounding scenery is tremendous with Itatiaia close by. There is also a lovely conservatory as part of the reception area where you can sit and admire the views. The rooms are very clean and nicely decorated and are reasonably sized. There is a very good breakfast provided. Minor irritants are that the shower had to be on minimum flow to be warm. As soon as you increased the flow the water became hot, while the water from the hand basin is always hot so you are cleaning your teeth in hot water. On the other hand the Jacuzzi never got warm enough to stay in for more than a moment. nevertheless overall we enjoyed our experience at this hotel/pousada as it was close enough to the town and as we didn't have a car this was ideal.

Over rated reviews, disappointing experience
Reviewed By eehotelReviews and a high note lead us to this fairly new B&B. The rooms are spacious, but with lots of empty and unusable space. Like the varanda, with no chairs and no hammock!!!! There is a problem with the water system, so that tap water is a tiny stream and the hygienic shower just to show... we were told all the rooms were comparable or worse than ours. The showers are electric (two in the box). The sheets, praised in reviews, do not fit the beds properly. The breakfast is good, but served only at 8:30h, kind of late for those that are there for tracking. The surrounding scenery (if you choose to walk until breakfast is served) is ordinary, at best. It is quite close to the road, Penedo, the gorgeous Itatiaia National Park and 17km from Visconde de Mauá. The staff is OK and the kitchen staff awfully nice. Wifi is just OK. We moved to another place: for 10% more we got one 100% better.

Reviewed By clinton tHotel is new, attractive and modern. Confortable rooms and beds but be ready for constant frustration. Transport to beach always late, even if you're alone. At breakfast, had to make them clean the table decently. Phone and safe in room didn't work. No coffee at the beach. The woman said, "everyone is asking for coffee." No coffee cups by the coffee in the reception. I'm not the hotel manager. I don't expect to have to tell you all to do your jobs. For this price, service should be much better.

nightmare holiday
Reviewed By ffvazI spent the carnival with my family there. It was not worth half the price we paid, because of the poor conditions of the chalets. The oven almost killed us twice; the linen were cheap and worn; the sofa had a big hole that prevented us from seating in it. All other guests we talked to were under similar conditions and very upset. Also the small road leading to the Pousada had passages covered with deep and large muddy puddles, and we and many others almost got stuck in there with our cars. I think the owner acknowledges the terrible conditions, because she required us to pay fully upfront on arrival even though we had already made a wire transfer for the reservation. This way, there was no way we could claim our money back or refuse to pay. All in all, we left some three days early despite having paid them in full. I have never undergone such thing in anywhere else. At least, despite overall bad conditions of the accomodations and the unfair charge and price, I must say that the staff itself was attentious and supportive nonetheless.

Reviewed By Shinjo5Clean and affordable. Friendly staff. Location wise, it is about 10 mins walking distance to restaurants and bus stop. It is lacking in facilities such as pool and gym but I have no complaints as it is a pousada and not a hotel.
