A lovely retreat with excellent food
Reviewed By Antonella127I don’t know where to start. I hadn’t been drinking milk for 30 years because it made me sick. At Taverna Centomani I could drink not only the richest, tastiest and healthiest milk but also try the homemade cheeses, kefir and yogurt that Maria, the owner, proudly makes from her premium milk. All the food is excellent and delicious, the quality matches the tradition of Basilicata. I loved everything from appetizers to desert. Good choice also for china, all different and picked up at flea markets, and cutlery. The place is immersed in the quiet countryside, a gorse scented breeze soothes the most tired traveler. The rooms are spacious and furnished with antiques. You come here to rest and you may think that life loves you.

Reviewed By robertcQ1054SYDifficult to find! If you come from Naples, turn right into Melfi after the petrol station, then four or five times again in a row (there are no road signs). When you pass the excellent restaurang La Villa (extremely good eating, best value for money ever in Italy) you turn right again some hundred meters after the restaurant. Big rooms, nice views. Very nice and helpful owner. The city of Melfi has a well worth seeing castle and the interesting grott church of Santa Margarita.

Our B & B is located in Sasso di Castalda a few meters away from the Tibetan Bridge, the Vie Ferrate and some hiking trails such as the Frassati Path. From the structure, in rustic style with elegant tones, it is possible to admire the natural scenery of the Appenino Lucano National Park. We have two double rooms finely furnished in rustic style: - Deluxe Suite - - White Room - Both are equipped with private bathroom, satellite TV, heating and wi-fi. Our breakfast consisting of local products is included in the overnight stay. We offer our guests a luggage storage service to be used on the day of check-in / check-out. Panoramic view from your room(also with a sunset!!!), candles around, nice Italian food, kind and hostile people, perfect organization - it’s all here!! Many thanks to Gianni and Co for making my Birthday so exciting! We had no problems with finding the information, they even opened the Tibetan Bridge just for us!!<3 (don’t forget to pop in to Time Bridge Bar for tasty food for good money and cosy atmosphere ;) HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!

Reviewed By matmars2018Driving along the coast of Campania. We ended up in Basilicata only to find this beautiful place. The staff was very warm and comforting. Speak English. The food was delicious. The location around was very picturesque. Great place. Gladly I would go back.

We met our long time friends for the annual festival in Ripocondida the town without a hotel next to Rionero. We stayed four days at San Marco and loved the value, food, cleanliness and hospitality. If you are in this area of Italy you will love Hotel San Marco.

Excellent two night stay
Reviewed By Mac MWe had some difficulty finding la Giancarla so be sure you have the correct directions. Parking is 60-80 yards away and free. That is about unheard of in Italy. I'd recommend you arrive in daylight. First time driving here can be harrowing. Check-in was easy. Everything about the facility is new. The kitchen area was available 24/7 for coffee, tea, and snacks. That was a big deal for us as we arrived quite late. The site is not on the beach but is a short walk to the town of Materea. Coffee shops and restaurants are nearby. Urban Chic was a surprising find with Men's, Woman's and kids shoes and clothing. Have your camera tuned up - this is a very scenic area. We will stay here again!

Reviewed By annyd201The B&B exceeded all my expectations .From the moment we arrived the when we recieved a warm welcome from Cristina and her mother .It was a boiling hot day we were hot and tired and that bedroom was so cool and refreshing with Cold water in the fridge .The room was spotlessley clean .We had paid extra for the triple room as the views were better .. and i am so glad that we did as the view of the old town was stunning .I have rarely slept so well , even without the air conditioning on the room remained cool .Bed very comfy , lovely crisp bedding and pillows .Idealily placed to visit the old town on foot and spend a relaxing evening in the centro storico having a meal and an ice cream .I would definetely return to the b&b it was perfect .Thankyou Cristina

Great Location
Reviewed By AaronPTravelerMy wife and I arrived in Melfi after an overnight flight from Toronto to Naples and while I am used to quick time zone changes my wife unfortunately is not so was very tired. We spent a little time trying to find the exact location of the B&B and while sign posted on the street it still leaves a little mystery of where you should park and in which building is the B&B. I would suggest you take a once around on Google Maps so that you know the street location and once you have this there is a courtyard which you can drive into with ample parking just ask the owner which spot is theirs. Once we rang the owners of our arrival Antonio and his wife showed up to check us in which was a breeze but be prepared for a couple of flights of stairs to traverse and Antonio to insist that he take the bags to the room we split the difference and I took mine with camera gear and Antonio took my wife’s bag. The B&B is in an old building, but the interior has been redone and is very modern in a sensible Italian style. The stairs are worth every step as it leads you to a beautiful balcony terrace with seating for at least 8 people and a fantastic view of the castle. Antonio is extremely helpful and will arrange anything you are interested to do in Melfi or the surrounding area. I had discussed in Google translate Italian where the best spot for photography would be and he was very willing to come at 5:30am and take me to a great sunrise on the city location, it took a little persuasion on my part to convince him that I had this covered and would prefer to explore on my own. We had the room that is outside the main building on the terrace which I would highly recommend for its quietness as well the great view. The best part of this stay was the ability to sit outside and take in the night view of the castle with a bottle of prosecco we procured around the corner at a local pizzeria after our supper. I awoke very early to take some night shots of the castle and the city which was very easy from this location given the terrace castle view location and the short walk to the castle from the B&B. I returned when the sun had risen and my wife and I enjoyed a very nice breakfast with more than enough selection of sweets and meats to satisfy most palates. The coffee was great and lots of juice available it was a very typical Italian breakfast offering and we left very sated and energized for our morning travels to Venosa. The checkout was easy and simple but be aware to bring cash for payment, Antonio once again took my wife’s bag to the car to help us load up. We would highly recommend a stay here for anyone visiting in Melfi as the location can’t be beat and the terrace is the icing on the cake.
