10 Bed and Breakfast Inns in Ortisei: Best hotel deals for 2023

April 30, 2023 Marissa Gamble

“Must love winter sports” could be the slogan of this town at the base of Northern Italy’s Dolomite Mountains. Skiing, snowboarding, tobogganing, and every other way of gliding across the snow is the favorite topics here, even when summer is in full tilt and Nordic walking and other high-altitude activities get added to the agenda. Two gondolas and a funicular on the edges of town whisk you up to the nearby ski resorts, which connect to a dozen or so more nearby. That’s literally hundreds of miles of easily accessible ski trails with one lift ticket. Back down in the valley, the après-ski atmosphere takes over the cobblestone streets.

Just perfect!

It was last minute booking, i was searching for a central hotel because i have no car. The hotel is perfect: the position is in the centre but cozy and silent, bus stop just in front of it. it has a small swimming pool and sauna, + i was given a pass in the big city swimming pool just 5min far from hotel. By foot one can reach famous cable cars in 5 min: seceda, resciesa, alpe di suisi. By bus (as a hotel guest you have a free bus pass valid for 7 days) you can visit beautiful cities nearby and other cable cars: Dantercepies, col raiser ecc. The staff is very friendly and professional ❤️ From the balcony you can see amazing mountain views : sella group and marmolada and beautiful sunsets ?? I'd like to return again and again in this hotel!

Cozy guesthouse with great views and nice breakfast

We stayed for 2 nights during our visit to Ortisei. Location-wise it's a 10-15min hike from the town, elevation of around 63m for a distance of 0.5km (based on my running app). For those with big luggages, probably best to drive in. There was ample parking space for guests, the place doesn't have too many rooms anyway. The room was like the pictures and above expectations for us due to the cleanliness and modern fittings. Since our room was facing the town, it had amazing views from the balcony. No lifts here but there were only 2-3 storeys so wasn't an issue for us. Breakfast was a small buffet of bread, fruits, cereal and some others. While the selection was not the largest, I really liked it. Overall the place had a really cozy feel to it and would definitely recommend people travelling in the area to check it out.

Cosy, friendly, good food and good service

This is a traditional, family-run inn between Ortisei and Laion. The public rooms and the food look good, and the latter is also very tasty and satisfying - there was never any danger of feeling hungry! We were here for 4 nights at the end of January on a weekend ski break, and were on half-board. The location 3km from central Ortisei was no problem, thanks to the fast and efficient on-request shuttle service. The proprietor and staff were very friendly and helpful, but their English is not strong and this might limnit their helpfulness for some! The house wine served by the 1/4 or 1/2 litre was local and very good value. Our room was spacious and clean, and overall we were very happy to be there, and would be happy to return.

Fantastic stay in Ortisei with Alexandra and Manuel

Reviewed By 331ericp

First, a disclaimer, Although our family has traveled our fair share, I've not written many reviews on Tripadvisor in the past. Occasionally, however, there is an experience that just compels me to do so. Our party of five was in Val Gardena for the Saslong Half Marathon, and after some research we chose to stay at Casa Al Sole in Ortisei. What a fantastic choice that turned out to be! We have traveled to a number of locations around the world, and almost always seek out guest houses and B&Bs in which to stay. Without any hesitancy I can say that Casa Al Sole was one of the best we have ever chosen. The rooms were comfortable and large, the bathrooms were well appointed, and the location near the center of Ortisei was excellent, with a number of restaurant and shopping options within easy walking distance of the property. It was also easy to walk to both the Seceda and Alpi di Siusi chair lifts, and as a result we were able to visit both areas in a single day. However, what really sets the property apart is the care that the owners Alexandra and Manuel give to their visitors. We were greeted upon arrival, were given an orientation to the area, and were treated each morning to a truly great breakfast with a variety of breads, pastries, meats, cheeses, yogurts, eggs, juices, and (of course) coffee. Alexandra and Manuel even prepared our breakfast early for us so we could get to the start of the race on time. They were truly pleasant and gracious hosts. If you are planning a trip to Val Gardena and are trying to find a place to stay, stop right now and make your reservation at Casa Al Sole. If I could give it more than 5 stars, I would.

Great Location for Summer Hiking

Reviewed By Chris S

Garni Panoramik was a fantastic location for a summer hiking holiday, we stayed for 11 nights and leave tomorrow. We would definitely stay here again when we return to the Dolomites. It is within walking distance (less than 10 minutes) of 3 cable cars which lead to 3 of the best walking locations in Val Gardena (Seceda, Alpe di Siusi, and Resciesa). There are also a number of walking trails directly from Ortisei, such as the great San Giacomo church. We rented a car, and that allowed us to drive to other wonderful locations such as the Sella Pass, Lago di Braies, and Lago di Carezza, but the public transport around here is excellent and you could easily get by without a car. Garni Panoramik is a couple of minutes walk from the centre of Ortisei, where there are a lot of great restaurants, cafes, bakeries, etc. You could stay here for months and not get fed up of the dining possibilities. Garni Panoramik itself was very comfortable, the room was nice, clean, and tidy, and had everything we needed. The bed was comfortable, the shower was powerful and hot, and all of the linens were changed regularly and were fresh. The breakfast was excellent, and had a range of pastries, cereals, bread, meat, cheese, and some fruit. There was also excellent coffee, espresso, etc. When we arrived we were given free passes to the local pool (Mar Dolomit), which is 2 minutes walk from Garni Panoramik and is an excellent pool for adults and children. We were also given free passes for Val Gardena public transport, and Gardena Active passes if you are interested in guided hikes. It is really close to the centre but don't worry that it is noisy, it was very quiet at night and really easy to sleep. The hosts were really friendly and helpful, and very attentive to anything we needed. We are very thankful to the hosts for a wonderful trip.

We stayed for two days in SuleHof and we had a great time. Stayed in a lovely clean room with a beautiful view, had a very nice breakfast every morning. Renate was super friendly and helpful in every way and was more than willing to explain everything. About the Ladin culture, language, life on the farm or general tips for tourists like us. She even helped us find the best Zwetschgenknödel in town. Around Sulehof there are enough places to relax and enjoy the view. The goats and the rabbits are also incredibly cute (we hesitated to take one with us but realized that we can't give such a goat a better life). Overall.. Amazing.. Thanks again!

Incredible view, location, and service. What a place!

Reviewed By anthonyfcane

We stayed at Albergo Somont for four nights in September and had the most amazing time. This quaint family owned hotel offers a location that is the best of both worlds--a tranquil retreat with an incredible view of the mountains and easy access to short hiking trails, while being just a short trip (walking or driving) to the shops, bars, and restaurants of downtown Ortisei. An amazing value, the hotel offered a *free* breakfast every morning from 7:30-9 (yogurt, bread, cheese, speck, eggs, pastries) and full dinner service at night. After some long days of hiking, having easy access to great food without leaving the hotel was such a nice treat. The dinner menu was simple and consistent, but we were especially impressed with the friendly and accommodating service and the specials that changed every night. The owners truly create a warm and enjoyable environment that make any stay memorable. We will be back and recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a special place to make memories.

Not Fancy But Everything You Need

Reviewed By 3StupidCats

Pros: Super friendly staff. All the rooms have amazing balcony views of the Sassolungo. Clean rooms. Hot water. Free coffee and breakfast. Maybe about a 15-20 minute walk from the center of town and all the gondolas. Complimentary Val Gardena bus pass. Pretty good value as far as places to stay in Ortesei. Free parking. Cons: Not a lot of fancy amenities, but you don't need them. Like, there's no refrigerator in the room but that's easily the most inconvenient thing about it. Wifi can be slow in the rooms, but usually works fairly well downstairs in the dining room. The staff speaks mainly German and Italian, so I would maybe brush up on a few phrases if you're a strictly English speaker. If you're traveling to Ortisei to hike all day, eat some dinner and then goto sleep to do it all over again then this is a great place and I'd definitely recommend it.
