Solo female traveller treated exceedingly well!

Travelled up from Kent late to use as a halfway point between the Peak District as had to leave early next morning. Staff were so friendly to me. Felt very comfortable sitting on my own 9pm at night eating a lovely salad full of flavour they knocked up for me last minute. Thought room was a single bed but was a double. Very clean. For the price was great! Felt safe on my own.

Staff were attentive, food was well priced and nice. Only 2 minor criticisms, 1. No ground pepper or Parmasan cheese offered with spaghetti bolognese 2. The eating area was empty apart from us. Great food, keep it up. Nice decor and nice to have Stowford Press Cider.

⋆✭♡⁑ A lucky find ⁑♡✭⋆ I can not recommend the Manor House enough! I called on the Tuesday for a last minute room as my husbands work is in the area, and there was only one room left but as I was desperate they did us a fantastic deal, hotel room, breakfast & parking is excellent value. Phil showed us to our room even though he was rushed off his feet and even carried my case. He and his great team of staff in a busy bar / restaurant looked after us then while we dined in the restaurant. The food was spectacular, except for the lamb which was too chewy for me and without a breath of hesitation one of the staff offered sincere apology, deducted it from the bill and offered something else. The rest of the meal was incredible. The room…. OMG the room! So luxurious with an immense roll top cast iron bath! Comfy bed, lots of room and a stylish bathroom and shower. And THEN the breakfast was one of the best breakfasts I’ve had in a hotel. All local and top quality. Last but certainly not least - late checkout at 12 afforded me the luxury of laying in the bath on a Saturday morning listening to the children in the field behind play rugby and cheer while the old fashioned train chugged past - it was like something out of an Enid Blighton novel. Every single member of staff has a smile and is keen to do what they can. Loved it so much that they are full tonight so had to find somewhere else but will be back on Sunday.

4.5 stars, just missed out on 5 stars.

Reviewed By Stu2247

Despite liking almost everything about this place, it has just missed out on 5 stars due to a small lack of attention to cleaning in the bathroom (see photos) of cobwebs and hairs on the picture rail and behind the door. Room 210. Other than that I can't fault it. Great central location, great system for checking in and out and use of the car park. Check in staff were excellent and very helpful. Good amenities in the room. Nice comfy bed and quiet for a city centre location. Great hot rain shower. We both agree that we would stay here again.

We stayed for two nights, and would highly recommend this pub for the accommodation, people and food. The owners have recently taken over and refurbished the rooms, which were all lovely and very comfortable. They were so helpful and could not have done more to make our stay a good one. The breakfast and dinner were all excellent, very high quality of food and service.
