Outdoor eating delight

We called in on the off chance we could grab a quick meal on the way back to our holiday let after a day out walking Saturday evening of a bank holiday weekend and we were delighted to find an excellent outdoor seating area where dogs were very welcome. The atmosphere was lovely and staff were extremely friendly. It was busy however the outdoor select menu of pizzas and fries was perfect for us. The food was delicious excellent table service and very quick from ordering to getting our food. Will definitely visit again if ever close by.

Bucket List Stay

I could not have chosen a better place to stay for my tour of the UK! From the moment I arrived, I was cheerfully greeted and made to feel welcome. This B&B is top notch! My room literally overlooked Shibden Hall. The hosts of Shibden Hall View at Hough House were very accommodating. Phil, Adele and their dog, Fudge were always accessible to assist me with any questions regarding my stay. The breakfast was amazing and a wonderful way to start out my day every morning. The room was very clean, comfortable and quiet. I highly recommend this hidden gem as a destination stay for anyone, (individuals, families, groups) as you will not be disappointed!

Lovely little B&B

Stayed here just one night. Rooms are small, but it is a listed building over 400 years old, so to be expected. Lovely comfortable room with lots of really thoughtful small touches ( tea & coffee, chocolates!). Breakfast was superb. The owners are really friendly and helpful. Fully deserves 5 stars. Would definitely stay here again!

Went with family for a lunchtime meal. Although a bit expensive, the food was worth every penny. Absolutely delicious with giant portions too and everything was cooked perfectly and well seasoned. A great range of veggie options too which was nice to see. The service was amazing, our waitress was lovely, helpful and attentive. Cannot fault and will be returning soon!

Great location very handy for the theatre . Room very clean and spacious we didn’t have breakfast so can’t comment on that . Hotel felt very safe and staff lovely . Some road noise in the morning but that wasn’t a huge problem to us . Complimentary drink on arrival was a bonus - great place to stay if you are visiting to go to the theatre .

Outstanding welcome at this traditional guest house…

Reviewed By watson-marsh-uk

The Kirk Lee is a very pleasant place to stay, a traditional guest house with all the amenities that you require for a comfortable residence; yes, it is a little dated in terms of décor however the place was exceptionally clean and presented outstanding value for money. I received a great welcome from the host, with continued excellent customer service throughout my time at the guest house, I came away with the opinion that nothing would be too much trouble. On the first stay I resided in Room 4 which was on the top floor, it was spacious twin room which provided a comfortable bed topped with clean linen, an in room sink which was handy, there was a large remote controlled modern television, and the free Wi-Fi was very good. The shared bathroom was on the same floor adjacent to the room, shared only with one other room and again was very clean. On the second stay I was allocated Room 1, a king room with an en suite bathroom which was also spotlessly clean and comfortable, also benefitted from a large remote-controlled television and excellent Wi-Fi; my only disappointment was the terrible water pressure from the shower. The pre-ordered breakfast was excellent, very well cooked and hearty. In terms of location, the guest house is perfect for the Calderdale Royal Hospital, which is across the road, there are bus stops with regular service to Halifax Town Centre located nearby. The railway station is a long thirty minute up hill and down dale walk away, but you can get the bus (£1.80 single at time of writing). The Kirk Lee Guest House offers a outstanding value for money comfortable place to stay, where you will receive a great welcome and I can recommend it to all.

The Old Post Office

Service above and beyond my expectations!

Reviewed By H2267HQjimb

I stayed at the Old Post Office during a visit to do some out-of-hours work at a local hospital. I needed to sleep at a time when most people would be checking out, but that was no problem, the folk running the Old Post Office were flexible and accomodated my odd hours. I then managed to lock myself out (working all night, dropping with tiredness) and the Lady manager/owner got me bck in to my room, no drama, no hassle, just GOOD Service! It's not Buckingham palace, but it was comfortable and clean, and I shall be using the Old Post Office again when next in the area. Highly recommended, an unexpected oasis when I needed one!

Our stay

Reviewed By F8321EXkimberlys

We had 3 nights here as were visiting family the room very dated with the wallpaper coming off in places there is damp above the window In the bedroom area there is a chest of draws that serve s as a dressing table but no chair to beable to use the mirror our room was directly ubove the pub and was noisey bit didn't disturb us. The bathroom wow you have to latterly breath in to squeeze between the sink and radiator to use the loo and more or less have to climb over the loo to use the shower not ideal the room wasn't checked while we stayed so towels weren't changed bins weren't emptied we had to ask for toilet roll and coffer. The bed however was very comfortable. The best thing about this hotel is the pub food we couldn't fault it but the drinks were pricey . Wouldn't stay again

Wow! Another well run event. The food was delicious as usual and complimented with great wines and real ales. I’m not surprised places go fast for these events. The Griffin has a first class chef, very friendly staff and welcoming hosts. Looking forward to battle of the pans on 2 September.
