Best B&B on the South West Coastal Path!

Reviewed By 753alistair

This was the best B&B I stayed in over fifty days walking the South West Coastal Path! The breakfast beat all others with wonderful locally sourced ingredients and lovely yogurt to accompany my granola. There was even a complimentary Easter Egg to mark Good Friday! The owners were wonderfully welcoming and helpful, supported by their friendly dog and an affectionate cat who loves to cuddle new friends - although they kept a respectful distance from guests who did not like pets. Room on ground floor well decorated with comfortable, high quality bedding. Set in historic town house with period features - the rooms are named after warships that fought at the Battle of St Vincent. Location was perfect for accessing South West Coastal Path, as well as the Coleridge Way and Two Moors Way that pass Lynton too.

Just a lovely setting, accommodation and hosts. Easy to find, clean a recently refreshed. After a 12 mile trek on the SW path, was so needing a beer and wine and Russell was quick to accommodate. We took his advice on dinner and had a great stay. Will come back.

Exmoor House

Our lovely Edwardian house in the heart of Exmoor National Park is also in the centre of a working village and it isn’t uncommon to see sheep being herded along the road outside. In 2017 we refurbished the house to enhance its original features, whilst maintaining its Edwardian character. The spacious rooms are all beautifully decorated & benefit from: Complimentary toiletries, tea tray, Smart TV, Superfast internet access, USB charging points, laptop safe & fridge. New for 2022 is our ground floor, self contained suite for those who wish to self-cater or just want more space! We are ideally situated to walk the Coleridge Way, visit the beaches of Minehead, Porlock & Blue Anchor & to enjoy the beauty of nearby attractions such as Tarr Steps, Lynton, Lynmouth, Wimbleball Lake & Dunster Castle. Exmoor is Europe’s first designated International Dark Skies Reserve & nearby Dunkery Beacon is a great place to star-gaze. Exmoor House is the perfect place to stay for Dunster by Candlelight and Snowdrop Valley as we're just a short walk to the 'park & ride'. Whole house bookings available upon request.

A lovely place to stay

A warm welcome from hosts who have thought carefully about what guests want from a B&B. The room was well-appointed, with a very comfortable bed, a good TV and a lovely view of Dunkery Beacon from the window. Breakfast was excellent - many locally sourced items and everything prepared with care. For dinner, we went no further than the Rest and be Thankful Inn, across the road from Exmoor House. It has no airs and graces but, in a friendly atmosphere, it serves good pub food at a reasonable price. We enjoyed our three-night stay at Exmoor House very much and hope to return before too long.

Exmoor Forest Inn

Excellent: hotel, food, location

Reviewed By Kotovasii

We stayed for a couple of nights and used two rooms. The booking was done over the phone, and I strongly advise this as the third-party sites do not allow for all flexibilities. The reception was very warm. The rooms were well decorated with great taste, clean and comfortable, superb and functional bathrooms; the bed was as comfortable as you get in some luxury hotels. The staff were friendly (although clearly very busy). The internet was slow (1.4 Mbps) however very reliable throughout the hotel, which means one could do the emails if needed – no video conferencing here, bit you would be unwise to work here ;-). The location is amazing as it gives good access to all local wonders. The food in the restaurant (book in advance!) was great, we tried different dishes, really surprised, but the wine list can be improved, I certainly would come there just for a meal. Opportunities: some waiting staff are not well trained and could improve (to make their life easier). The reception staff is not really present so be aware that at night you need to use your door key to enter the inn – I was not told so, and had to explore the options. There is no electric car charger so be aware if you are desperate! All in all – amazing place and amazingly friendly staff. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Lovely little B&B

Reviewed By Helaine B

We stayed for 1 night whilst visiting my dad who lives in Lynton. We had the family room which was at the front of the property, no noise at all. Lovely clean room, lovely hosts, delicious breakfast and beautiful location by the river. If I were to give any feedback it would be change the menu choice form for BF to have tick boxes as our order got completely messed up and maybe time for the mattresses to be changed, ours was rock hard and with a bad back I didn’t sleep much at all. Overall lovely stay .

We just spent 4 days staying at this lovely Inn and would highly recommend it. The setting is just beautiful, it is spotlessly clean, everyone was so nice and welcoming and the breakfast especially was fantastic. Completely unpretentious, affordable and friendly, whats not to love and we will definitely be visiting again.

very disapointed

Reviewed By Neil G

Jane was very friendly and welcoming was my first impression, the room was nothing special but we were only there for the night so no problem. We parked in one of the 2 available parking spaces. Chris had friends staying, his friend blocked us in and left a note outside our door stating if we wanted to go out to ring a number and they would come back and move there car. I thought this was rude and Chris had obviously told his friend to do this. When they came back i asked the guy to move his car as i didnt want to be blocked in, Chris said its ok its our friend, well i was a paying guest but he made it clear his friend could block our car in if he wished and after a short chat he said he felt it may be better all round if we left for daring to speak out about his treatment of paying guests when he has non paying friends staying. Im not saying dont stay here, i am saying i found Chris disrespectful, rude and very arrogant. The place itself has no charm anymore and its quite boring when you consider other beautiful places nearby. However we moved on and had a great night somewhere else and met lots of new friends which wouldnt of happened had we stayed here so call it fate. p.s Lymington down the road was an amazing little place, try there instead i would say.
