Concert stay

Well what can I say except we had a great stay,we was looking for somewhere to stay near Sunderland for the Ed Sheeran concert and the the three horseshoes popped up so we booked 2 nights.we was booked into room 4 and it was perfect for us,outside there was green fields with sheep, lambs the odd hare make an appearance the only sounds we could was the sheep now and then. All the staff where very friendly and the food was spot on and the eggs at breakfast were possibly the freshest eggs I have had in a long time they must have been from a local farm.the best compliment that we could say about the three horseshoes is that we are definitely going to stay again as we hope to have look around Durham itself in the near future.

Good food, bad service

Reviewed By icekidd123

The food here was lovely, really big portions I thoroughly enjoyed it. Starters, main and dessert was delicious. Unfortunately the service was pretty bad, there was a few younger new starters it looked like, which is fine I have patience but we sat with empty plates waiting for a dessert menu for absolutely ages, ended up having to find a member of staff to ask what desserts they had. We waited another 15 minutes before going up and ordering desserts at the bar as no one was coming to see to us, again sat with empty plates waiting for the bill another half hour, had to go up and pay. It was later on in the evening so it wasn't that busy anymore, think staff had forgotten about us.

Five Star Chef

Reviewed By coemgenus

A flying visit to Durham meant an early departure on Sunday, and with no mention of vegan options in the hotel breakfast menu and few Durham cafes open early a British Rail sandwich breakfast looked increasingly likely. Fortunately the OYO Durham chef did not bat an eyelid and sourced ingredients especially for us the night before, preparing a delicious vegan breakfast especially to order. Many thanks for a lovely stay in the Bijou Loft.

Dog friendly, lovely owner and staff, clean and wonderful food

Reviewed By Sam4a

What a lovely experience! This is a budget hotel with clean, comfortable rooms and a lovely owner who couldn't do too much for us. We had a large room and our dogs were made welcome too. The Penash restaurant was shut, but the chef rustled up fresh lamb and chicken curries - both different, two sorts of rice and poppadoms , which we ate in the bar - probably the best Indian meal we've ever had. We'll definitely be back.

Amazing food and portion sizes are beyond belief

Reviewed By 7356peekay

I wanted to stay here but unfortunately they did not have the availability I needed, so ended up staying at another local establishment, which did not serve food. Warned on arrival that there would be a wait for it to arrive as they had been inundated all at once due apparently to a very rare event, apparently a local League 1 football team had won something, but as as I only look at things in black and white was not that interested :-) So we settled in for this wait but it was less than 25 minutes for the starters which is less time that I have waited in many others without any information. and the main courses arrived within 20 minutes of collection of the starter dishes. As for the food, a word of warning, the portion sizes are huge!! Not only the starters but also the main courses, easily enough for twp per portion, might try a sharing platter next time to see what they bring it out on....... but I must say the quality is fantastic. and prices are good. The staff are great, friendly and attentive and will definitely be back there, hopefully stopping there.

Lovely welcoming B&B

Reviewed By Ellen G

Booked direct and the hosts Bill & Jill could not have been more welcoming or helpful. 3 night stay. Room (4) is light, airy, lovely views. Full bath with shower over. King size bed, very comfortable, if slightly too soft for us, just personal preference. Drink facilities plentiful. Breakfast most definitely worth getting up for. Will be staying again, would recommend without hesitation. Tip: put Plantation Avenue, Littletown in your Sat nav and you pull up outside, don't rely on postcode.
