Steer clear of this place

Probably the worst hotel I have stayed in for years. We were put into a disabled room and it wasn't until day 5 they offered to move us. The rooms are not cleaned and it was a complaint from my wife after day 4 that the next day they cleaned the rooms. We tried to speak to the manager on numerous occasions but he avoided us, we did speak to the reception manager who did nothing. On the first night we didn't even have any toilet tissue what a great start to our 40th Anniversary holiday. The breakfast buffet was woeful with little to no choice. We are waiting for the manager to get back to us still because we has asked for some of our money back. It was that bad we came home on the Friday instead of Saturday. How it gets these good reviews amazes me.

Really quick and easy to find and plenty of parking available (which is unusual in this area of town). The room is clean and comfortable with a bathroom with toilet and shower. There is also a kettle with things for tea and coffee also available. There is also a TV in the room. The staff have been super friendly and know the area well. Easy walking distance into the town centre. Would definitely stay here again.

Very welcoming, clean and well located

We arrived a little early and found our room was ready. The lady on reception was very helpful. At breakfast we mentioned we might bring back a bottle of wine for a drink before going out for a meal, and when we arrived back two wine glasses, a wine cooker with ice were sitting in our room. Breakfasts cooked to order to an excellent standard.

Perfectly situated for O2 Academy

Reviewed By MandyH2604

We booked a stay here as we saw a review saying how close it was to the O2 Academy, where Travis were playing. It is literally a 5 minute walk away. I cannot fault the place, for the price. Our room was lovely and clean, the bed so comfortable, and as it was in a quiet street we had a lovely night’s sleep. The shower was powerful and refreshing. We arrived mid morning as we travelled a distance to get here. Our room, understandably wasn’t ready, but the owner was more than happy for us to leave our car on the drive so we could get the bus into Bournemouth town, and do some exploring. Boscombe pier is only a 10 minute walk away and has a Harvester next door, so we didn’t have far to go for our evening meal. Breakfast was available at our hotel, but we had to forgo as we had to leave early. There was a conservatory room where you could sot if you wanted to. I really cannot fault this place, and we will definitely be staying here again on any future visits.

Consistently excellent

Reviewed By timbK1847AP

We first stayed at Derby Manor mid September 2021 when we dropped our daughter off to start her studies at the AUB. We have been back seven times in the past nine months and have had a consistently excellent experience at this well run, high quality establishment. The staff are professional, courteous, friendly and reliable. Theresa and the reception team plus the team at breakfast are welcoming, consistent and efficient and a real pleasure to interact with. The rooms are all spotless, comfortable, safe, well aired, quiet and spacious. We have stayed in the smallest room and the largest (and several in between) and they have all been as described and high quality. The parking at Derby Manor is no problem. There is generally enough space immediately outside, otherwise there is plenty of space across the road at their sister hotel. No issues whatsoever with late night access. Breakfast is a real joy; very good choice served in a spacious dining area and prompt and friendly service. The bar service in the evening is also relaxed and excellent. In summary, Derby Manor feels like home from home and every single trip has been enjoyable and relaxing. Our daughter has now finished her course but we will definitely return. We would thoroughly recommend Derby Manor to anyone who wants a well located, high quality B&B/boutique hotel which is a pleasant and short walk to Boscombe Pier and really well positioned to explore and enjoy the greater Bournemouth area.

We absolutely loved this hotel. We stayed for one night and had a lovely stay. The rooms were so clean and very cosy. The staff were so lovely and showed us our rooms. In the morning we had a delicious breakfast and they catered for all of our allergies. We had two people who had a gluten free breakfast. They even made sausages for the dogs too! We bought our dogs with us and they had bowls in the room for the dogs which was lovely. I would definitely stay here again and would recommend.

The Commodore

The Commodore Hotel Southbourne near Bournemouth is on the Dorset cliff tops at Southbourne adjacent to the cliff lifts and Fisherman's Walk with easy access from the A31 and A338. The spectacular views across Poole bay take in Swanage to the West and Hengistbury Head and the Isle of Wight to the East. The Commodores location, close to the New Forest, and Bournemouth town center, makes it an ideal base from which to explore Hampshire and Dorset. The Commodore was built in 1928 and was originally called Crawford's Tea Rooms. In the war it was used to house serving American airmen. In the early 50's an extension was added and it became Crawford's Bar and Hotel. Not long after that, it became The Commodore Hotel. A very popular holiday location. There is ample on-street car parking within a few minutes walk.
