Beautiful B&B

Reviewed By MCDIANES

No 45 has everything you need and more! Alison (and doggy Teddy) was very welcoming, helpful and informative….nothing was too much trouble for her. The room was lovely with a lovely big en-suite. It was lovely and clean, comfortable bed, and lots of amenities. Down stairs, there was a breakfast room and 2 comfortable lounges to sit in. There was also garden seating, in a beautiful garden. Breakfast was on another level compared to some guest houses. The home made granola was delicious, along with everything else. Alison is a fantastic cook and baker! The location was fantastic, about a 10 minute walk from Ballater, and close to the many stunning Ballater trails. Overall the place was fantastic, we will be back for a longer visit next time. Thank you Alison.

Disappointed

Reviewed By Paddybloke

Not what it used to be - went for a carvery for the first time in ages and was quite disappointed. Vegetables were swimming in tubs of water and both them and the boiled/roast potatoes were clearly out of tins or packets - quite tasteless and poor texture. Kids meal was just processed stuff too - they could do a lot better. Service was friendly but not exactly great - had to ask for a kids menu twice and they were to bring bread/toast for us while we were waiting but it never showed up. We have been a few times over the years but left really disappointed and we are highly unlikely to return when you have such excellent and vastly superior alternatives available locally such as the Davron in Rosehearty. Shame.

My usual Hotels near by were full and I picked Furain Guest House as an alternative, best decision I’ve made in a long time! Lovely warm family welcome especially from stanley the guest houses new puppy, fantastic large clean double bedroom with en-suite bathroom, lots of clean towels, loads of coffee and biscuits in the room, great breakfast freshly made in the morning, off road parking, fantastic pub/restaurant close by with great food, I will definitely be returning in the coming weeks as there looks to be great walks along the river to explore.
