Georgia Beach

Located in the "Bluff Area", just minutes from the Gibsons Marina & markets, this little beach is a well-kept secret by locals and an idea spot for a romantic picnic with your signifigant other (or bring the kids!) We often stop at one of the eateries on nearby Gower Point Road and pick-up a fresh made sandwich or decadent dessert to take with us and enjoy some quiet time at the picnic table, looking over the quiet ocean waters (evening time you can watch the boats returning to harbour as the sun sets...) With the car windows down and Andre Bocelli or Eva Cassidy softly playing on our car system (be respectful of the local neighbours and don't play loud music,,,) we sit at the table and maybe share a little wine with our picnic meal (I know it's not legal in BC to consume alcohol in public, but we've been to England where you can consume a glass of wine in their local parks, so why not, if it works there just do so responsibly) and be sure to clean up your refuse and take it away with you when you leave. Enjoy.

Kitsilano Beach

This is one of Vancouver's most popular beaches offering panoramic views of downtown Vancouver, Burrard Inlet, and the North Shore Mountains. Surrounded by park land, restaurants, and beautiful people, it's the quintessential Vancouver beach experience.

Kits Beach has just been ranked by Lonely Planet as one of Canada’s top ten beaches, and one of B.C’s top three beaches. Chesterman Beach, Tofino, on Vancouver Island, gets best surfing beach, another up island for most remote and Vancouver’s Kits Beach as best urban beach. Kits Beach, a nice stretch of beach easily accessible to a good number of neighborhoods, as well as to downtown Vancouver, also has a lot going for it around it. Public tennis courts, public basketball courts and beach volleyball. It also has good parking; it is close to the cycling path and the seawall route. It also offers a great view across the inlet to the mountains, still heavily capped in snow. In addition, there is Kits Boathouse, very close to the beach to pop in for a meal or a beverage to warm up with on these chilly April days. I did just that this first Sunday of April. Under the management of GM, Doug, and his assistants, Dave and Ed, one gets good welcome from all, from hosts, to bartending and serving staff, as well as fine plating and food from its kitchen. I was welcomed by veteran bartender, Britney, who also serves the lounge area. I was delighted by a great dessert of molten chocolate lava cake with a special raspberry and caramel sauce instead of it usual ice-cream, as it was just too chilly for this cool day in its patio area, the only place restaurants are able to seat people with the new restrictions. BH chef, Cush, kindly made that adjustment for me. As the photo below shows, it was well-combined. And as the other photo shows, one can get a great view of the highly-rated Kits beach from the BH patio. Other bartenders — Donna, Emma, Adam, and Heather, also give good service and warm welcome. It is open seven days a week, as is Kits Beach, of course Posted by S Fuller

Jericho Beach

Reviewed By likeabirdliah

Whether you want to learn how to row, kayak, sail or swim, this beach is the place. Very family focused in the summer, it's a great beach for a picnic, or to practice open water swimming (short distance). There is also a great place to eat, above the Sailing Club. While it used to be some sort of an airport or base, there is a longer indigenous history- though of what sort exactly I am not sure. Landscaped beautifully for walking, and for music festivals (of which I know there have been two which usually happen annually)- this has got to be one of the best, small beaches in the city.

Spanish Banks

This expansive beach offers fantastic picnicking opportunities, swimming, beach volleyball, or simply a panoramic view of Vancouver and the mountains. Spanish Banks tends to be a quieter beach which makes it very family-friendly.

Reviewed By RoxanneStanick - Surrey, Canada

My favourite place to watch the sunset in Vancouver is at the far west side of Spanish Banks by the dog park. Bring a picnic dinner and a blanket, and settle in to watch the spectacular summer sunsets, enjoy the sound of water lapping in on the beach, and the joyous playfulness of the dogs running and playing off-leash. The air smells spicy with the fragrance of trees and salt water. A really special spot in the midst of urban life.

It's a beautiful beach even when the tide is out. It can get crowded during the summer but still a great experience.
