10 Beaches in Cayman Islands That You Shouldn't Miss

February 22, 2022 Tonie Szymanski

The Cayman Islands are made up of three islands: Grand Cayman, Cayman Brac and Little Cayman. The largest, Grand Cayman has a cosmopolitan vibe, gourmet restaurants, world-class diving and the famous Seven Mile Beach. Cayman Brac is a nature lover's heaven of stunning diving and breathtaking walks along the rocky bluff. The smallest island, Little Cayman is home to just 150 people. Visitors enjoy the relaxed atmosphere and diving, especially Bloody Bay Wall, considered one of the world's best wall dives.

Lovely beach at the northeast end of Little Cayman. Worth the 15-20 minute drive from the airport. Take the road on the left after you turn in from the main road. (Despite the private property sign, the sign goes on to say that the owner permits the public to use so long as you respect the land.) A covered area is available with a BBQ pit and there is usually a few beach loungers around for the public's use. Great white sand beach and sandy entry into the water.

Cemetery Beach and Reef

Reviewed By TravelingSoccerLoon - Saint Paul, United States

Great place to enjoy some relaxing time on the beach and get in some good snorkeling at a reef that is easily accessible from the beach. We were visiting Grand Caymen on a cruise ship and while most passengers gravitated to Calico Jacks or Royal Palms, we headed further away along Seven Mile Beach and had a very different and enjoyable experience away from the crowds. As pointed out by others, there are no facilities at the beach. However there are a number of trees available and plenty of shade if that is preferred. There was a couple picnic tables available as well. We put our beach towels down and enjoyed a beautiful relaxing day at a not too crowded beach. Bring your own drinks and food and snorkel gear. I snorkeled for about an hour with plenty of fish to see all around the reef which is located about 100 yards from the beach. Beach access is along a foot path just to the north of the cemetery. Getting back to our ship was easy on the public bus with a bus stop right across the main road from the cemetery. $2.50 per person for the 15-20 min ride back to Georgetown. This was much quicker than the "taxi" we were loaded into at the port which made several stops to drop off the other 20 passengers before arriving at Cemetery Beach.

Seven Mile Beach is a slice of heaven in Grand Cayman! Depending on where you are along the beach, you have areas of gorgeous white sand for playing and swimming, rocky areas perfect for snorkeling, teeming with exotic fish, calm turquoise water, restaurants, condos and miles of uncrowded shorelines to walk and explore.

Governors Beach

Governors Beach was a beautiful day spot for our family during our cruise stop to Grand Cayman. We utilized the public bus to and from the port area, which was an easy walk and overall convenient and affordable means of transportation. The beach was clean, not too crowded and very beautiful. Snorkeling was also very nice at this location.

Spotts Beach

Reviewed By Adventurer511777 - Madison, United States

Located behind the Spotts Cemetary is a lovely beach that quickly became our favorite on the island. Spotts features a small beach section, surrounded by palm trees offering comforting shade. In this area there are picnic tables and covered seating as well, although there are no chairs available for sunning yourself. Parking has greatly improved from our visit a few years ago. For restroom facilities, there is a single port-a-potty beside the parking lot. Closer to the water, the beach thins and stretches in either direction, allowing for pleasant walks along the water. Spotts is an excellent location for seeing turtles, if you bring your snorkeling gear. They can be found fairly close to shore, nibbling on the turtle grass. The water clarity is not the best, as the surface chop stirs up a bit of sand. Still, this is a great place to snorkel, with a large number of fish closer to the reef area. During this trip I saw multiple turtles, mature sting rays, and a host of the usual denizens (parrot fish, angels, wrasses, flounder and barracuda). This is the first beach we will visit on each subsequent trip.
