10 Bars & Clubs in New Forest National Park Hampshire That You Shouldn't Miss

December 4, 2021 Almeta Stockton

If you need a word to perfectly describe New Forest, “welcoming” would be it. The lowland (i.e. no mountains) park is filled with scenic views and wide trails that beg to be explored as they wind through centuries-old woodlands. Visit Bolderwood, a protected forest and deer sanctuary that was once the hunting grounds of the Norman kings. Fish at Moors Valley before heading skyward for a treetops walk. Prefer the country-house life? Head to Beaulieu, where you can get lost in the Victorian-era at the Palace House before following in the footsteps of medieval monks at the property’s abbey.

East End Arms

This was my second visit, nearly a year apart and I cannot fault either time. Both times the staff were very friendly and attentive. First visit was a Sunday lunchtime and the roast was just fantastic. All four of us (1 veggie) all had roasts and were blown away with the meals. Second visit, Saturday lunchtime we had Starters of scallops and Thai fish cakes then mains of lamb and skate. Not sure how we managed desserts but sticky toffee puds were ordered and they were so delicious. I would totally recommend this pub. I cannot see a reason why you would not want to take a trip out to this lovely place. There are even horses and donkeys waiting for any leftovers as you leave! It is simply a wonderful place.

The Wash House Bar

What an amazing bar! The staff were great & cheerful, the place is decorated beautifully & what a great range of drinks! We had only come for the weekend & wanted to eat, the bar let us get a takeaway from the local chip shop (also great food) or you could get food delivered from other local eateries, and bring in to the bar to eat with our drinks. It seems there has been some dislike from locals on this bar, but all I can say, we really enjoyed the wash house, it’s got great ambience & also a lovely comfortable interior, what’s not to like as the staff were so cheerful & helpful, will definitely return on next visit, we wish you all the luck with your business, shame the locals can’t support this business, especially in these trying times for new businesses!! Good luck & keep doing what u do!! Thanks ????

This is one of our favourite pubs in the New Forest. We popped in on a busy Friday night for an evening meal, were given a warm welcome by the barman and got a good table in the main bar of this lovely Victorian pub. They have ane extensive menu with lots of daily specials and some good guest ales. My wife had Portobello Chicken in a white wine sauce with mushrooms and saute potatoes. I had the largest seafood salad I have ever seen with lots of prawns, a generous helping of salmon, new potatoes, boiled, egg, beetroot, tomato, lettuce, celery, cucumber, spring onion and a separate pot of rose marie sauce. Both meals were delicious, the service was excellent and the prices very reasonable.

Our first visit here and on day 2 of pubs allowing to open up after lockdown we took ourselves and the dog for a Sunday outing. The staff very friendly and welcoming, the food (Roast Dinner) out of this world. The pizza , well you should make sure to have plenary of room to get through this homemade gem . If Someone had told me that I would enjoy a roast dinner like the one I had after lockdown then this was certainly worth the wait. Thank you
