Reviewed By Travel715Travelers to Danxia National park and Great Buddha Temple do not have much choice for international standard hotels in Zhangye - the Holiday Inn Express we found quite acceptable for a night's rest. In general, the hotel was relatively clean though "sparse"; breakfast was very local but enjoyable and filling. Other than the rooms and breakfast area, the hotel does not have other amenities, and as other have noted, is relatively far from town. So meals should be taken elsewhere before returning to the hotel. One other issue to note -- the hotel does not accept int'l credit cards so either pay before, have cash or get help.

Beware, they do not accept credit cards other than Chinese issue, even though the room compendium suggests they accept all types of credit card. You will need to pay in cash if non-Chinese national.

Good price and location
Reviewed By Madison PThe hotel is a kind of simple, but it is a good choice comparing with the price. The location is good, from the window I saw the beautiful view of mountains outside the city. There is no breakfast choice, but we found a small local restaurant to eat traditional chinese food everyday, which is nice.

A comfortable place to rest when travelling through the silk road
Reviewed By zozopyWe stayed in this hotel while travelling from Xjian through Dunhuang. Rooms are clean and comfortable, but there is no minibar and no safety box. Breakfast is rich in Chinese food and there also some good cakes.

Fantastic Hostel
Reviewed By merlinw2013This is a welcoming, well maintained, clean hostel, that actually seems like a hostel, which is very rare in china. We had a really nice clean well presented ensuite room, for a very reasonable price. They even allowed us to take our dog, after we called them and asked. They gave us a lot of information about where to visit next, and some English is spoken. I would strongly recommend this hostel.

The worst experience so far
Reviewed By 911tillvIn case you plan to enjoy the wonderful landscapes around Zhangye, I suggest to take any other hotel than this one. Especially, for Western people. This hotel is as international as Zhangye. Meaning zero. First, temperatures in the winter are low and the bad insulation cannot be compensated by an already weak heating system. Second, the towels are the worst I have ever seen in my life. They don’t deserve even the name “towel”. They basically reject water absorption as oil which makes the drying process a completely new experience. And with a freezing atmosphere this makes it very special. Third, food. If you feel like Rambo and need to only “survive” than you can try the hotel restaurant. Somehow you can get some energy into your body. But it’s not very pleasant. The only food of the Western part of the breakfast is a boiled egg. Fourth, everywhere you have the smell of cigarette. People smoke wherever they please. Even in the room where you have no spoons to make yourself a tea, but three packs of cigarettes. This says it all. And finally, make sure to bring your own toilet paper since they only have half a roll per day. With a family this might become a challenge.

good location for visiting Rainbow Mountains
Reviewed By RitaM0919This is a good hotel to be in the city center and still access rainbow mountain. We only stayed one night. The hotel is a 7 minute walk to the night market for yummy delights. The bed was comfortable, but I love a harder mattress, so that was good for me. Breakfast was a bit weak - simply because I don't like most Chinese buffet items. And the room's carpeting could be better. The hotel has a very steep ramp and often does not let cars go there - be mindful. No foreign credit cards; no English. Use translation services to help.

Average hotel but very strange cleaning practices
Reviewed By MarcelTravellerIn May 2018 we stayed 2 nights in this hotel, in twin room 411, at the front/street side of the building. This hotel indeed has - as mentioned in other reviews- a good location, close to the Bell Tower, a street with a lot of restaurants, the great Buddha temple and the square with the wooden pagoda. Some remarks about this hotel: 1. At the front side - rooms 01 until 17 - you can’t sleep with an open window because of the traffic noise of the busy street .We have used the airco, but we would prefer fresh air in the night. If we knew this, we had asked a room in the other wing or facing the courtyard. 2. Breakfast is in another building on the courtyard. It is only Chinese style, no coffee, bread of yoghurt. No English is spoken in this hotel. 3. The rooms probably haven’t seen a vacuum cleaner for a long time. 4. One towel was very dirty, even with blood stains. We received a new one with the apologies of the staff. 5. Because we had a late check-out waiting for the transfer to the railway station, we sat a little longer, at 9.10 a.m. in our room drinking coffee we had made by ourselves. We had the unique experience that the maid entered our room, walked around completely ignoring our presence, cleaned it up and prepared the room and the beds for the next guests without changing the sheets we used ..... Over all a good place to stay in this city, but it is a hotel with remarkable cleaning practices.

Reviewed By flyiota2016年10月带爸妈来大西北旅行，10月5日晚，在参观完七彩丹霞之后，司机带我们来到了七天优品酒店，我觉得这是我们全程住的最正规的饭店了，前几日黑马河、大柴旦都是祝的民宿，敦煌是入住青旅，只有到了张掖住了连锁酒店，看到统一规整的床品和设施后，感到还是很惊喜的，十一期间哪哪都满房啊。 位置的话，感觉从七彩丹霞景区出来没开多长时间都到达了，旅店附近吃饭的地方也挺多，算是方便吧。 在旅店洗澡很舒服，看电视也很清楚，屋子大小也可以，我同时把两个行李箱打开收拾东西，也都放下了。 我们报的包车包含了住宿，十一期间在没涨价的情况下，订到这样的酒店还是挺满意的。七彩丹霞真的超美，特别出片，但是人也超级多，我想有机会我还会再来这里的。

Later I checked the Booking.com confirmation and that stipulation was there in the fine print. I love Booking.com but on this occasion they failed me by not splashing the restriction in 100 size font all over the page. Anyway this hotel has a decent sized room but the bed is rock hard. You need 2 pillows for any height off the bed but only one per twin bed is supplied. Internet wouldn’t connect with cable. Very little English. Not great value at $AU84. Bathroom size is OK. Water pressure is good but for me a broken shower head meant some of the water was splashing onto the ceiling. Food options limited with no English. Breakfast included.
