Wisconsin, United States Food Guide: 10 Steakhouse food Must-Eat Restaurants & Street Food Stalls in Wisconsin Dells

June 27, 2020 Alida England

Find out what Steakhouse restaurants to try in Wisconsin Dells. Shaped by the currents and curves of the Wisconsin River, Wisconsin Dells has been a favorite family vacation destination for more than 150 years. An explosion of indoor water parks has turned the Dells from a summer hot spot to a year-round destination. Kids will enjoy the seemingly endless supply of fun and games, from go-karts to miniature golf, sideshows to thrill rides. If the weather's right, you can take a Duck tour of land and water, and top it all off with a heaping helping of the local fudge.

All around everything was great. However, I would caution you about the Veal. They use a VERY HEAVY glaze that takes away from the veal. I would try the Other version to get away from the glaze if possible. All food Portions were very large. Oysters on the half shell were some of the best I have had and large. The Proprietary Red Wine was fantastic and the Martini was very well done. Lobster Bisque was the highlight. Service was excellent. Be prepared that this is at the Wilderness resort with lots of families. Most diners were families with young children. Go later when it is not so noisy with kids. All in all it could be fine dining in Wisconsin Dells.

Food tastes very good. The service was slow but maybe it’s toward the night and season. I don’t blame them. The ambience is awesome. Really do feel as if you are in Jamaica or Africa. Would eat again

Ishnala Supper Club

No reservations, and even on a cold Thursday night in October, there was a 1- to 2-hour wait for dinner at 5:30 p.m. Lesson here: If you don't want to wait, you have two choices..go really, really early (when they open); or, do what we did, and get a drink and an appetizer at one of the bars. We saw a beautiful sunset over the lake and spent about 1.5 hours at Ishnala. Between 2 appetizers and 2 drinks, we actually were full (though I wish we could have ordered a salad to balance out the high-calorie appetizers) and the cost was minimal compared to a dinner. The club itself is beautiful in a very old-school way (this year is its 66th year in operation), lots of taxidermy, lots of logs, etc. Go and enjoy! (PS, I would not recommend bringing children here; it's an adults-type place, especially with the long waits and large crowds.)

We were searching for a nice place for dinner and were sticker shocked by some of the Dells restaurants. Then we found Rubbs Steakhouse. The atmosphere is great and the food is delicious, the cocktails are fun and the prices are fine. I highly recommend choosing this restaurant for a great dinner.

Double Cut Charcoal Grill & Liquor Bar

This very attractive restaurant, with its luxurious fireplace bar areas was a surprise in this super touristy area. It is expensive, but you do get what you pay for; the steaks and chops are enormous. The appetizers were excellent, especially the steak tartare, and the scallop and poke tower. Wines were very pricey; most were in the $75 and up range, and the scotch selection was equally pricey. Happy hour had live music; a jazz saxophonist; very nice.

We were pleased with the experience and felt it was a fair price for the quality of food and service. The view from our window seat was nice and we relaxed with drinks prior to ordering. The garbage salad was a fun experience and very tasty. Our food was prepared just right and delivered in a timely manner. We enjoyed good service and recommend Kaminiski’s.
