This place just knows food. We loved the Roasted Chicken (could feed two people!) Also ordered the Greek Salad and the Warm Goat Cheese salad. Wow! so good. Busy place, but feels nice with the small town vibe. Great place so we will keep coming back. Prompt service and fair prices.

We are camping just outside of Winters and came in to town for lunch. Stopped in for lunch. We split a ham and Swiss panini. Oh so good! Went back for coffee later but it was closed at 4:30. So sad.

We will be back for sure!!

We stopped here on a hot summer day and bought ice cream cones. Delicious! After Thanksgiving, on Saturday, we ran errands, and wound up in Winters. We decided to try this place for a light lunch. They have a display case of delicious looking baked goods, and one day we have to come early and try some. But we wanted lunch, so we both ordered Tuna Sandwiches and Coffee. You can get a meal deal with chips and soda, but we were too cold, so we just got coffee, self-serve and delicious. They offer a limited menu, and many, many bakery items. The people are very friendly, there are a few tables, it's very clean and bright. They made our sandwiches and brought them to us. People came in and bought many bakery items. One customer chose a cake and had it personalized while he waited. It's just a small, nice, local business. A bear claw beckons me back

Turkovich Family Wines Tastingroom

Reviewed By loubelle64 - Edmonton, Canada

Turkovich's tasting room is in a lovely older wood building with some beautiful original artwork (for sale) on the walls. In addition to wine tastings they offer tastings of local cheeses and some branded chocolate. We enjoyed samples of five wines each from a selection of a few whites, a sparkling, a port, and about 7 or 8 red wine varietals. These are some very fine wines from a small producer. Some of the grape varietals offered as vintage wines are typically used in blends so it was interesting to try them. A nice way to spend an hour or two!

Ficelle

Reviewed By Fraser000

It is tempting to not review this place at all since it is already hard to get a table here. This has to be one of the best restaurants in the Central Valley from a taste point of view. Service was perfect. View into the kitchen says a lot about who is making it all happen. The wine selection and matching is generous, as is the sprawling menu. Outshines anything in Davis or Sacramento. So do me and my fellow Ficellists a favor and stay away, please.

Preserve

Preserve Public House is a dynamic addition to historic downtown Winters. We look to preserve and promote the story of self reliance and sustainability through food and drink. Well placed grains of salt give way to cured meats, fresh milk is transformed into cheese, grapes are coaxed into wine and grain is bubbled into beer. The individual artistry and wisdom involved in these practices was once considered common knowledge. We aim to preserve these skills by creating a market place to showcase those who are diligently protecting these traditions all over Northern California. The well being of friends and family motivated those who originally discovered these clever acts of evading the short shelf life of nature’s bounty. It is within this establishment, we hope that you can take the time to grab a handcrafted sandwich, have a drink, watch a game and enjoy the simplistic luxuries with those people that make your life what it is. Preserve the good life!

Looks like a fine place for Pizza and beer but we stopped for brunch on Sunday. Nice outdoor area with short interesting brunch menu.
We tried pork, hominy, pouched egg soup like dish. Interesting and very good. French Toast like a bread pudding with chunks of bacon. A real good dessert.
Coffee good and excellent service.
Pull off freeway and stop.

Park Winters

The Restaurant at Park Winters serves land-inspired fine dining. The Restaurant aims to grow much of the ingredients on its own land, maintaining healthy soil and practicing sustainable farming. The kitchen also sources from the best farmers and artisans in Yolo County. Each dish represents the story of the region - one that is engaging and memorable. Our prix fixe menu is $125 per guest (plus tax, gratuity and beverages)

Some restaurants aspire to be great from the outset but few achieve it. Executive Chef Scott Ostrander has hit it out of the ballpark. Set in rural Yolo County not far from the towns of Winters, Woodland and Davis, and associated with The Inn at Park Winters, its own great story, this new restaurant has launched an exquisite dining experience. Based on the premise of melding the farm to fork concept with a fine dining experience separates this from others in the fine dining league. Imagine a French Laundry experience in Yolo County. The menu is prix fixe and we would have it no other way. Trust Executive Chef Scott Ostrander to provide a heavenly dining experience. From the Garden Crudite to the Halibut, Agnolotti to Duck Trio, the Spring Lamb Chops to the Carrot cake (you have never experienced anything like it) the meal was delivered at a measured pace, exquisitely presented by staff, and each course fully explained in terms of content and preparation. The restaurant draws its greens and vegetables from their own garden and source meats from local suppliers. Wine pairings are available, although we brought our own for a $20 corkage fee. The wine selection is still somewhat modest with good choices and is in the process of being built into an outstanding collection. We did have a Sazerac cocktail that was simply sublime and an Australian Reisling that was very good through the first two courses. The Pinot Noir we brought matched very well with the other courses. The menu is expected to change every 4-6 weeks, so be sure to go online to check out current offerings. As others have stated the new dining hall is well suited for this California experience in fine dining.

The food is consistently good. The staff is well trained, polite and organized. Reservations suggested, many non-local folks come to celebrate birthdays and so on. Bar food service is available without a reservation. Weekends are very popular, pretty noisy. It's really not a "drop in for dinner" place, but worth making a reservation. Try the Signature " char roast".

Tomat's California Cuisine

Reviewed By TahitiZ - Milwaukee, Wisconsin

We stopped at Tomat's for breakfast on the way to Lake Berryessa. They have a nice area outside in front of the restaurant with very comfortable chairs and tables where you can eat your meal and we chose to sit outside. We ordered the special of habernaro sausage and eggs and it was very good. They also serve a good Bloody Mary. Service was good! I would definitely return.
