Intimate setting with variety of local foods making high quality simple dishes. Excellent wine selection and great variety of cheeses and deli options to eat there or take home. Fish soup is unique and extremely good. Service is great also. A little more expensive because it uses fresh local ingredients I live in Ventura and this is really a unique spot to eat

I hesitate to write this because it is such a find!!!! Delicious food, very reasonably priced, and great atmosphere! I love this place. Needless to say there are many wines from which to choose (it is located in the back of a wine store). Alex is the head chef and is so creative that he changes the menu the first Tuesday in every month to keep making interesting, delectable food for those of us who keep coming back. The resterant itself is small, intimate and designed as though you were eating inside wine caverns. In addition to the wonderful menu they have many wine dispensers so you can try many different wines until you find the one you would like to eat with....or just keep trying !!!!! They have live music some nights and a happy hour menu worth getting there a little early as those items may not be in the dinner menu. Children are not allowed so just check before you call. Reservations are for parties of 6 or more. They also have a fantastic private room perfect for parties!!!!! I obviously love this place.

My wife and I enjoyed a cozy dinner on a rainy night beside the fire at Barrel 33. Parfait has recently taken on the restaurant, and he made the evening as personal and delightful as one can expect for first-time guests. The menu is fairly basic, a combination of pastas and pizza, and an extensive wine list to support it. There are suggested pairings/flights, which we chose not to explore, but were satisfied with our pasta and a relatively inexpensive Italian red, which worked out just fine. Prices were OK, and about on par with the area. A romantic evening, with a warm, engaging host who was genuinely interested in showing hospitality and service to all diners.

We stopped here for a quick bite to eat on our way up the coast and very glad we did. Sit at the bar at the front of the restaurant if you can, it's great for watching the world go by as you eat cheese and drink a nice glass of wine Our waitress recommended some great cheese options to try and the board we got we great, nice and colourful 4 types of cheese and then chutney / figs / olives / breads - it was all delicious and a great price for the quality of the food
