Small cozy trattoria situated on the road to the roman bridge. Owned by a couple from Agrigento their sicilian passion for food shines through. Good food tasty and well prepared from an interesting menu. A complimentary glass of Zibibbo finished the meal and we left with a smile on our faces

Nice format, nice place and friendly staff. If you like wine tasting some good quality cheese and hams coming from Italy, that's the place. We had dinner with red wine selection, warm starters followed by cheese and ham selection. Good quality. Informal place where you can get aperitive, lunch, dinner or after dinner.

We were in Merano for a kids-and-husband-free weekend with some friends. After a full day at the thermal baths we were drinking a Gin Tonic and trying to find out an open restaurant that served gluten free option (one of my friends got celiac disease) on a Sunday night in Merano. We were extremely surprised and pleased with Chapeau. Food was very good, fresh and well presented. Service was pleasant and very attentive. Price was coherent with the quality of the food we ate. Will go back to it for sure in case I'll be in Merano again.

We had a really nice experience here! For starters, the ambience was very nice. Rustic setting under an outdoor terrace. The servers were very fast and attentive. All looked very cute with traditional Lederhosen and dirndls.We started with their house dry white wine. Very good and reasonably priced.We had schnitzel with mushroom sauce, chicken steak with vegetables and our son had the chicken nuggets. Every dish was hot and very flavorful. I am not sure quite what it was this morning that prompted me to finally get around to writing this long overdue review of Claudiaâs wine bar. Suffice to say the view from my train into Central London this morning doesnât really compare with some of the rather magnificent views afforded to me when I took the train from Verona up through Bolzano and onto Merano last December.This was my second visit to Merano in recent years and top of my âto doâ list was a return visit to Claudiaâs wine bar. It really is a lovely little wine bar, located on the edge of a picturesque square and is a world away from the hustle and bustle of London, or even Verona for that matter. Claudia and her mother are delightful company and set the friendly and informal tone for the bar. It is a remarkably pleasant place to while away a few hours over a bottle of wine. (Personally I loved the Gewurtztraminer Passito but Claudia can guide your wine selection to your particular tastes.)The wine bar also offers charcuterie platters etc - albeit Merano is not short of nice places to eat. Whether you like your food in the âAustrianâ or âItalianâ style, I doubt you will be disappointed. In fact Claudia was very helpful with restaurant recommendations - including an excellent one in Bolzano, which I visited on the return leg of my journey.The wine bar also sells wine to take home with you. I found Claudia to be very knowledgable about Italian Wine, particularly with regard to the (excellent) local wines.
