My friends and I decided to try Takhrai Thai after reading all of the wonderful reviews. We went around 5:00 so it was early for a Saturday night. We got seated right away. We handed the waitress our $25 off coupon. She was very unfriendly and a bit cold toward us. I ordered a glass of wine and one of my friends ordered a beer. My other friend had a bowl of soup to start which was delicious. We ordered three entrees to share: duck, crab fried rice and cashew nut. The duck was dry and full of bones. The crab fried rice tasted extremely fishy. We all enjoyed the cashew nut. It was very tasty! We never saw the waitress again after the food was delivered. We were in the restaurant for 1 hour 45 minutes and had to ask for the bill twice. When we finally got the bill there was a 20% gratuity that had already been included. I don't hesitate to give a 20% tip when I have had impeccable service. The service at this restaurant was horrible! I would not recommend Takhrai Thai.We're sorry to hear that you had this experience, Barbara. As you've seen from our reviews, this certainly isn't like us, nor is it acceptable. Looking for a good Thai restaurant in Poway, CA? Iron Pan Thai Kitchen is the answer. We stopped by for dinner last month. This restaurant is small. There is seating for about 14 people inside, and there are a few tables outside as well. Would not recommend if you are a large group. The small venue does not seem to hurt their business. While we were there, a lot of takeout orders were being filled.The service was helpful and very friendly. We were pleased with most of the food as well. Here is what the three of us shared:Pad See Ew with beef. It was a good sized portion, and a flavorful entree. (4 stars)Papaya salad. None of us were too crazy about this choice. Not saying it was bad. Just that most other places we've tried are better. (2.5 stars)Massaman Curry with chicken. It was tasty, but more chicken would have been nicer. (3 stars)Crab fried rice. Yummy fried rice. Would order again (4 stars)Mango with sweet rice. Great way to end a wonderful dinner. A meal is never complete without dessert. (4 stars)Iron Pan Thai Kitchen can be recommended for a nice dining experience.

We recently discovered Thai Ladle on Poway Road and have added it into our rotation of neighborhood go-to restaurants. You can dine-in or take out (They also offer Uber Eats, Doordash, Grubhub, etc.) We enjoyed a yummy thai iced tea, an appetizer and a curry. We both thought portions were a tad smaller than other thai restaurants we frequent, but it was all very fresh, colorful and fragrant. Decor is simple and modern with grey woods and string white lights. Service was swift and attentive. Located on Poway Rd in the same plaza as a Starbucks, Bertrand's Music and Swedish Royal bakery and just down from Big Lots and Northpark Produce, there is free parking out front.
