Spacious layout with ample seating, we arrived halfway through the buffet time slot, the restaurant was not busy. The buffet food was not what I expected, no traditional Thai flavours - no kaffir lime leaves or lemongrass. There were lots of generic sauces offered such as sweet and sour, a peanut sauce (satay?!) and soy sauce. Salads were drenched in a creamy dressing, not a Thai salad in site.Website says atleast one seafood or fish dish in the buffet, when I got there and asked for it, the reply was 'not today'. Weekday buffet lunch including a drink for 11 Euros is a bargain, just don't expect authentic Thai flavours.Thank you for taking your time to review! Weekends is Asian brunch buffet, where food is more variety of all the best. Weekdays is more of what you ask, lunch buffet, there always minimum a seafood dish suggested. When you miss seafood, you must miss a huge fresh shrimp plateau with spicy Thai seafood sauce?! And the authentic Thai curry dishes?! And the salad is Som Tum fresh salad!? Not all Thai dishes have lemongrass or kafir leaves. But itâs still authentic Thai dishes. Welcome again and hope a good day!

In the US, this buffet of mostly Chinese offerings would be in the poor category. In Sweden, for Asian food, it is average. The food is fresh. I was there on a Saturday around 2, and there was a line out of the door. They kept all the bins full with hot and fresh food. The issue is that the food has little flavor, certainly no spice. If you closed your eyes, I'm not sure you could tell one dish from the next, even though they were drastically differently in sauces and preparation (or should have been). This is not unique to this restaurant, but, again, at least here, the food is fresh. And the people are very friendly (which is frequently not the case in Sweden) and helpful. Would I go back? I probably will as I am here for a couple more weeks and very few other options on the weekend. This is about as best a weekend lunch as is available.

With Thai and Malaysian influences, the Soya's menu has something for everyone. You can order from the menu or assemble your own dish to be cooked Mongolian barbecue style. With panoramic views of Lake Vattern, the Soya is conveniently located in downtown Jonkoping with the train station on one side and the Scandic Hotel on the other. An excellent place for a romantic dinner for two, or a large celebration.
